How does he NOT?

According to God, earthly sex is only a shadow of Heaven. Going to Heaven doesn't replace what's broken so why bother?

Doesn't that sound unfair and prejudiced? Do you think God should be treated as a rogue spirit en masse?

Please specify which holy book; Bible, Quran, Bhagavad Gita, Kitab I Aqdas, etcetera, states that "earthly sex is a shadow of Heaven".

chapter? Verse?

But okay-if it says that then the bible is saying "heaven is better than sex"- which would mean he prefers virgins to nonvirgins -not the other way around. So what would that statement have to do with god 'hating virgins'?

Nope, not from the Bible. Surprisingly many similar statements saying this or that, claiming to have Biblical origin, fail the test. If it were from the Bible, it should be New Testament, because the Old Testament is practically silent about the way things will be once we enter the afterlife. Hence, the only authorities who could have said this are Jesus or Paul. Neither of them did.

The OP is clearly misinformed and has never read the Bible. There is no such claim made anywhere in it. Old or New Testament.

The claim has a Gnostic ring.

I really want to know where the OP found this.

Jesus said that in His kingdom there would be no male nor female, and He also said that there would be no gender in the afterlife.

Many (most?) people now believe that the Gnostics were a Jewish group existing before and during Jesus' ministery, not a 'Christian' group at all, and I believe that this is possible.

However, 'Thunder, Perfect Mind' is one of the most beautiful, mystical, and uplifting writings I have ever read! Admittedly, I do not understand what someone in the sect would have.

The numerous apocryphal gospels or acts would be a good starting point to search for it. But the amount of work involved is enormous. Random guess: I'd start at the Gospel of Thomas.

Correct. I was wondering if the OP had this in mind, quoting it inaccurately.

Really? Aren't those people usually referred to as Essenes?

I haven't read that one. Is it Gnostic?

Dear Krabo, Please do read it!
You can Google 'Thunder, Perfect Mind', it is from the Nag Hammadi library, you can Google Nag Hammadi Library, or go to www.gnosis.org
It is one of the most inspiring, yet mystical things I have ever read!
As I wrote before, I do not claim to understand all that is meant by it, but I just love to read it!

Ahh… I'm a regular visitor at gnosis.org. – Yes, found the text. It seems to be one of George W. MacRae's translations which I highly value. Downloaded the text, the html file needs some editing, then I print it, file it physically, and read it. I concentrate better when I read from printed paper than when I read directly on the screen. Thank you, Sylkat.

Dear Krabo, when you have a chance to read and savor 'Thunder, perfect Mind', is it not inspiring?

Well... I guess the OP cant name the point in the bible he got it from. So it was a missheard, missread, missunderstood, or otherwise distorted version of something he got from the bible second hand. Or he made it up out of whole cloth himself. In any case its not a real biblical quote, but a piece of nonsense.

So the subject is done.

Send in the next topic please.

Agreed. This thread appears to have no point or purpose, and considering the OP hasn't had but one word to say since creating it, I think it's time to put it to bed.

No one really seems to be interested in it anyway.
