I saw a video posted about that here a while ago and that is just stupid. There have been free cell phone programs all along. It's not like people got a free phone because of Obama. I have a disabled aunt that has one and has had it for years.

I think the video's popularity was due to the way the woman spoke rather than the political point. "KEEP OBAMA IN PRESIDENT", "Romney? He sucks, BAD", and so forth.

Which is a good point.

There's obviously something not quite right with the woman in that video. Maybe mentally ill, probably on disability. I don't blame her for being afraid of the Republican candidate.

Even if it's a good point, yelling about him being bad doesn't prove anything. She should have named one of his policies that she didn't like.

I remember when they first started advertising, they had hot girls advertising them talking about "Don't be stupid why are you paying for minutes?"

Very alienating, making it seem like the phones were for socializing and having fun.

Nothing surprising there. Not when some people thought Obama was going to pay their mortgages.....

Conservatives demanded that the government pay off the bad mortgages and the banks still illegally foreclosed on all of the property.

I do receive what is affectionately known as a " nut check".

God forbid the government gives cell phones to poor and disabled people! Next thing you know, they'll give these people a means to get food and shelter!

Where in the Bible does it say that the poor have a right to a free phone?

It doesn't. But it certainly is convenient when out and about, and you need to be gotten hold of in case of emergency. Any parent with school age children can tell you that fear is always in the back of his/her mind.
On top of that, it can save a person a great deal of money when phone expenses could be used for food, clothing, or medical expenses.

Thanks for shedding light on that for us.

Then let there be jobs. In inner cities, there isn't nearly enough employment opportunities, and the people lack vehicular means of seeking employment outside their neighborhoods. On top of that, so called job creators outsource work to cheaper job markets under the pretext that Americans want too much pay and benefits - the very nerve of the workers! Bring back jobs and the opportunity to find a job, then we can seriously talk about people buying their own cell phones.
And that doesn't even address people on disability who are often parents, or have other loved ones they are concerned about.
