Don't you know that when Luke Skywalker and the rest of them kill the imperial forces that's cop killing? Why aren't they reacting the way George Bush the Elder did when that Body Count Ice-T song came out?

Acutally in the later novels, Luke Skywalker is struggling with himself, because of the innocent deaths he had caused.

You are late. ^^

I wonder if there where any civilians on the death star? It was the size of a "small moon" after all...

There had to be. And what about everyone's family? I wonder if Death Star workers went home, or were stationed for a few months, or if the Death Star housed their families as well?

You never see the Storm Trooper who misses his girl back home lol

Stormtroopers are soldiers, not cops.
The Death Star was akin to an aircraft carrier, and thus a legitimate military target. I don't think there would have been any civilians on board.
The bigger question is whether it is ethical to clone people, mature them in capsules, and then press them into military service. The troopers can't pine for the "girl back home" because they have no home and no past.
George Lucas gave us such a shallow, emotionless, stilted view of his universe in the three prequels. I'm actually glad he's sold the franchise to Disney - maybe THEY can do something cool with it. They can't do any worse than Episodes 1-3.

Well, since the light side of the Force (tm) is perfectly comfortable with deception ("These are not the droids you're looking for") one is left to wonder about the ethical standards inherent in the Jedi Code (tm).

There was a discussion about this in the film Clerks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4MVQby0InQ

When it was originally released, the Star Wars franchise was on one level, subliminal propaganda.

The Empire represented the Soviet Union.

Stormtroopers are both soldiers and cops. In a society like the Empire, there is no difference. The law is enforced by stormtroopers rather than a specialized law-enforcement agency.

Not all stormtroopers on the Death Star were clones. After a failed uprising in which Kaminoans bred an opposing army of Jango Fett clones, the Empire began not only using other templates but also recruiting Imperial citizens. Only the elite 501st Legion remained "pure". So there must have been hundreds of thousands of naturally born soldiers with friends, families, and feelings who died on both Death Stars and in the countless other battles between the Empire and the Rebel Alliance.

Skywalker should have turned to Han Solo and said, "We're cop killers, and they don't like that".

They should work that into the next movies, a guy who's pissed at the rebellion because his brother was on that death star.

Everything I ever heard said that Star Wars was a denouncement of the actions of the US government in 'Nom.
