Not a World Ender. However a heavy coronal mass ejection could do some serious damage and death.

There is also the matter of the shifting poles. At some point solar radiation will have an easy time making it to the ground.

Time for the 2000+ sun blocker.

My apocalypse has been going rather fine, how about yours? Did any of you guys/gals have an Amazing Apocalypse, Wonderful World's End or Delightful Doomsday?

This phenomenon happens so frequently, Hallmark needs to get in on the action and start printing Doomsday cards.

I saw a documentary about that the other day. Seems the earth's magnetic poles are becoming unstable and North / South are likely to flip over. The dangerous part is that the changeover isn't sudden but happens over hundreds or even thousands of years during which time the earth's magnetic field is very much depleted, leading to serious holes in the magnetic field which allow solar radiation (high energy particles) to reach the surface of the earth (as opposed to being diverted off to the poles where they manifest themselves as the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights). Apparently there is a magnetic hole forming at the moment somewhere off the east coast of south America; but when such holes start to form over land they will be extremely dangerous to all living organisms (including people) there and wipe out most surface dwelling life on the exposed areas.

I dare say that some of mankind will survive such a slowly unfolding natural disaster though by building self sustaining habitations deep underground. Poor people remaining on the surface would be toast.

Several pole shifts are known to have occurred yet animal and plant on this planet survived. For humans the best place would be underground with as little exposure to the sun as possible. Pole shift is not a sure fire extinction event but much damage will occur and possible civilization as we know it will come to an end and have to be rebuilt after the stabilization of the poles in their new position.

I have been having an absolutely wonderful apocalypse. Smashed six windows, stole two cars and a wide screen TV.

Next up is the dreaded Alpacalypse. The world will be over run by herds of cute cuddly alpacas.

My apocalypse is going okay, I guess ... lots of parking ... very little traffic ... not as many zombies as I thought there'd be ... maybe all of the smoke and fires are driving them away ... electrical power is a bit dicey ... water's still running ...

Purellcolypse. Where we end up killing some really important good germ, which then allows a really deadly bad germ to kill us all. All because we feared germs. Is that Irony?

I saw a TV show on this and it is quite scary. If Our electrical grid goes down then all hell will more than likely break loose. Also The hole in the magnetosphere is alarming, I like not having Cancer
