Quote:
Porn star-turned-biology teacher who was fired after students downloaded her films onto their smartphones LOSES court bid to return to the classroom
  • Stacie Halas, 32, appeared in adult movies under the name Tiffany Six
  • Sacked after students showed teachers clips of her on their smartphones
  • Claimed she only acted for a nine-month period due to financial problems
  • But three judge-panel decided porn past meant she was unfit to teach
A middle school biology teacher who was fired after students discovered she had starred in porn films has lost her bid to return to the classroom.

Stacie Halas, 32, was sacked from Haydock Intermediate School in Oxnard, California, after students downloaded clips onto their smartphones of her appearing in films such as 'Big Sausage Pizza' and presented them to school officials.

Halas, who appeared in the films under the name Tiffany Six, was fired from her job as a science teacher after the video surfaced in March but had hoped to make a return to the classroom. She lost an appeal against the decision on Tuesday.

Again, appearing in legal pornography isn't a crime, so (apart from the usual moral panic brigade) I don't think she's done anything wrong.

I actually feel surprisingly sympathetic towards women like her - she made choices in life, and I wouldn't be surprised if she didn't, in the end, make that much money from what she did. From what I can tell, she mainly did Internet pornography and that isn't often that well-paid.

So, yes, I don't think appearing in (legal!) pornography should blot your record for life. It's not like she murdered anyone.

I agree. Also, if I were in the school system, then I would try to get myself in her class.

In the US, an employee has about as many rights as does a slave. The law is barely changed from master-slave times.

I think the first question is properly, "who has the authority to determine the necessary qualifications to be a teacher?"

I am quite prepared to accept that there must be a good character test for membership in the profession. After all, members of the profession are acting in loco parentis. But it seems to me that it is not up to schools to determine that test, but rather the professional body that licenses teachers, in order that there can be a common standard across all schools within a jurisdiction.

Second comes the question, "Does this conduct disqualify her from membership in the profession on those grounds?" This is a much more difficult one. It is not enough, in my view, that the conduct was legal. The test is not, "Does the potential teacher have a criminal record?" but rather, "Is the potential teacher of good character?" Ultimately, the body that licenses teachers must be answerable to parents. It must create a body of professional in whom parents are comfortable that they can have trust.

At the end of the day, if a roomful of teenage boys are all sharing downloads of their teacher appearing in porn, how much respect will those boys have for the teacher? How well will she be able to discharge her professional obligations?

Do you believe former porn actresses are not of good character? It would be more appropriate to make it something like: "Is there anything about this teacher that will be a source of embarrassment and may bring the school and the teacher into disrepute if discovered?"

Which then, of course, leads onto the question - what if that is amateur footage? What if that footage was taken without her consent? Is she to blame for something that is not her fault?

What of it isn't porn that she appeared in, but simply nudes or softcore porn? Am I not of good character if someone takes photos of me nude and spreads them around the Internet? (God, their eyes would never recover.)

I think most porn actresses realise that it's part of the job that they can't be teachers once they leave the business, if they're honest with themselves.

I looked her up--she isn't especially a hawtie, just one of many thousands.

Plus, she has aged noticeably since her prior career. She could have denied having worked under the name Tiffany Six, and no-one would have known the difference.

Kids must be going to a lot of trouble to search for porn actresses who resemble their teachers these days.

Like I said - she's just a here-today, gone-tomorrow young woman who appeared on a couple of porn websites. It wasn't like she was a major star or anything.

If anything, it's mostly women like these who short-sightedly don't think things through that porn will hurt (oh, and Facial Abuse type sites). Her choice though.

Imagine it were seventies/eighties/nineties and a lady down on her luck did a stint as a porn star. And then got hired as teacher.

The students would not be old enough legally buy her videos, nor buy the magazines that would have stills from her movies. So it would be hard (maybe not impossible but murch harder) for her under 18 student to get and share pics of her in compromising positions.

But its the 21st centurey any child can download anything on a cell phone. These images they pass around undermine her authority as a teacher- I would think.

So it renders her ineffective as a teacher. So she cant do her job. So what is the rationale for NOT firing her?

She could always work in UC Berkeley as a human sexuality professor!

I just saw her interview from "No Cum Dodging Allowed 7", and funny how she talks about being a teacher, and the likelihood of getting fired if they found out. Kinda surprised a porn actress was telling the actual truth in a porn interview.

what a dish. it is time that adults laid everything out for the kids to understand. it's just sex, for christ's sake. teach 'em responsibility as soon as they are old enough to understand. if she has an aptitude for imparting knowledge and thinking skills to children, then let her teach!

She is teaching Biology, and has some hands-on experience. Unlike the typical virginal school marm.

I would think that being an ex-porn star would make her all the more qualified to teach biology, if you get my drift.
