White smoke was seen rising from the main building at CERN yesterday.

The Director of CERN announced: Habeum Boson., Higgs the First.

That means the particle discovered recently was a Higgs Boson

The discovery that they announced on 4 July last year was a Higgs boson with a mass of about 125 GeV and I've known that practically since the particle was announced. What we didn't know was if it was whether it was the type of Higgs boson predicted by the standard model. Right now, it appears to closely resemble a standard model Higgs, however there are still some anomalies, so there may still be new physics that has, as of yet, not been discovered.

The LHC has recently been shut down for upgrades and won't be started up again for 2 years, so we'll have to wait till then for whatever physics beyond the standard model is still to be discovered.

Well, I guess Peter Higgs better bring out his finest suit.

Considering that he's 83, the Nobel Committee for Physics should probably not be dragging their feet to much...

All hail the first bozon.

I just hope the newly elected bozo does not overshadow the news about the bozon.

Don't you mean boson or was that misspelling deliberate? I thought bozons were the smallest particles out of which clowns were composed.

I am refering to an actual bozo that, when elected, also is announced by white smoke...

OK, I've heard about troll physics, but clown physics? This is getting complicated! 8O

Per Forbes this is just the beginning. Wonder if we'll learn how to couple/decouple mass from whole objects or make gravity weapons anytime soon .
