Well, there's an awful lot of lies.

10) is wrong. There will be an international border between Scotland and England, but I can't imagine that it would be any different than between RoI and NI now - probably laxer than that.

9) is also wrong. Scotland would have to re-negotiate its membership of the EU as a separate country. If it did this, and it re-entered the EU as a separate state, it would also have to commit itself to join the euro under the EU's own rules. Do the Scottish people really want to do that? I seriously doubt it.

8) I'm sure Scotland probably could survive on their own, depending on exactly what their economy was. They'd have to take some huge tax cuts I think and they'd have to wean themselves off the welfare state, but I don't see why they couldn't survive.

7) Who said that Scotland would be defenceless? A small military would be set up, no doubt with heavy co-operation with the UK. As for "losing jobs", most of those personnel would stay with a new Scottish regiment. Some may find that going to the remainder UK army is more profitable, as Irish soldiers do now.

I'm sorry, is anyone else arsed to debunk these?

I wonder how much sway rational debate will have over the independence vote, and how much of it will be decided by emotional anti-Westminster or Anglophobic feeling.

that is the real shame here, I think most scots have been browbeaten and invenomated against independence the argument from the unionist camp is based on hysteria and rhetorical questions rather than practicality and an honest look on the possibility that Scotland could be getting a raw deal from the union.
