She was framed for a cop killing in 1973. She escaped prison in 1979. She received asylum in Cuba in 1984. Now, in 2013, the FBI has put her on their Top Ten Wanted Terrorists list. Her name is Assata Shakur, the first woman ever on the list and a, dear me, a former Black Panther!

No story
No link to a story
Not even a name we can research.
I guess we're just s'posed to assume that being a former black panther she was discriminated against and framed.

Weak.

The government says she killed a cop. All right, say that she did, does this make her a terrorist? Why is she on the Top Ten after 40 years of inactivity? Meanwhile, they don't even prosecute a man who blew up a Cuban airliner and openly support him. Hmmm.

By the way, that they're putting her on this list so irrationally suggests even more strongly that she was framed. If they're so out to get her as to put her on this list, then surely it would be an easy matter to frame her. Cop killers are a dime a dozen, but she happened to be a Black Panther! J Edgar Hoover vowed to destroy them. Enough said.

... Where is the evidence that she was framed?

There were discrepancies in the statements by the surviving State Trooper (James Harper) which led him to retracts his statements. At worst, though, this would mean that his shooting of Assata Shakur was uncalled for. It wouldn't make the other State Trooper, Werner Foerster, any less dead. And Assata Shakur was convicted as an accomplice, so it did not matter if she personally fired a weapon or not.

However, it would make more sense to put her on the "Top 10 Most Wanted Fugitives" list. For instance, Victor Manuel Gerena is on this list, and he is only wanted for armed robbery... a lesser crime than being an accomplice to murder of a police officer. And there are two "free" slots on that list due to one having surrendered and another being captured.

Oh, and explanatory links.

No evidence of a frame-up.

Black Panthers are a terrorist organization.

She is a member of the Black Panthers.

She is a terrorist.

Her infamy is deserved.

Arrest with extreme prejudice.

She was/is BLA not black panthers.

she should be arrested, but I don't see this happening. She isn't going to be extradited from Cuba.

Assata Olugbala Shakur is an African-American activist and escaped convict who is/was a member of both the Black Panther Party (BPP) and the Black Liberation Army (BLA).

Those who give asylum to terrorists may as well be terrorists themselves.

When I was in Cuba I saw a billboard that said just that and it featured George W Bush and airline bomber Posada Cariles...

This former Black Panther did nothing that qualifies as terrorism other than to have disfavoured political opinions. She did not bomb an airliner, unlike the man Bush was protecting and supporting.
