Nigel Farage: "EU is the new Communism"

Knowing as she did that the euro would not work she saw that this was a very dangerous design. Now we in UKIP take that same view and I tried over the years in this parliament to predict what the next moves would be as the euro disaster unfolded.
But not even me, in my most pessimistic of speeches would have imagined, Mr Rehn, that you and others in the Troika would resort to the level of common criminals and steal money from peoples' bank accounts in order to keep propped up this total failure that is the euro.
You even tried to take money away from the small investors in direct breach of the promise you made back in 2008.
Well the precedent has been set, and if we look at countries like Spain where business bankruptcies are up 45% year on year, we can see what your plan is to deal with the other bailouts as they come.
I must say, the message this sends out to investors is very loud and clear: Get your money out of the Eurozone before they come for you.
What you have done in Cyprus is you actually sounded the death knell of the euro. Nobody in the international community will have confidence in leaving their money there.
And how ironic to see the Russian prime minister Dmitry Medvedev compare your actions and say, ' I can only compare it to some of the decisions taken by the Soviet authorities.'
And then we have a new German proposal that says that actually what we ought to do is confiscate some of the value of peoples' properties in the southern Mediterranean eurozone states.
This European Union is the new communism. It is power without limits. It is creating a tide of human misery and the sooner it is swept away the better.
But what of this place, what of the parliament? This parliament has the ability to hold the Commission to account. I have put down a motion of censure debate on the table. I wonder whether any of you have the courage to recognise it and to support it. I very much doubt that.
And I am minded that there is a new Mrs Thatcher in Europe and he is called Frits Bolkenstein. And he has said of this parliament - remember he is a former Commissioner: 'It is not representative anymore for the Dutch or European citizen. The European Parliament is living out a federal fantasy which is no longer sustainable.'
How right he is.

I don't see what that's got to do with communism, sounds more like government corruption leaning towards fascism....absolute government control of society is facism not communism. Actual communism can't even have a government because then it wouldn't be a classless society.
And before anyone tries informing me what I already know Yes I know there isn't such a society in existence and that people are greedy pigs so there probably never will be ![]()

Of course in the case of Cyprus the message is clear. A guarantee by the government of Cyprus is not the same as a guarantee by the government of Germany. If people offshore their money to Cyprus for a few percent extra interest then I'm not going to cry myself to sleep when they lose their money. People should pull their money out of Cyprus because the banking sector is too large for their economy. Of course the EU could have avoided the media circus by just giving an extra 5 million as a gift, but money leaving Cyprus was probably inevitable anyway.
And it is not stealing money. The other EU countries are under no obligation to help Cyprus guarantee savings, it is their responsability. Even after the cuts, some people are still better off because of the higher interest compared to people putting their money in a Dutch or German bank. I don't think people are pulling their money out of Germany at this moment.
Obviously the euro hasn't worked out for countries such as Greece. Other countries such as Germany are doing pretty good. The euro is worth much more in dollars than at the time of introduction. In hindsight, having several zones of common currency might have worked out better, f.e. Germany/Netherlands/Austria/Denmark using the Euromark or something. The Dutch currency had been pegged to the Mark since forever anyway since we are so dependant on German trade. Or do what the Danish did, not adopt the euro (by referendum!) but their currency is still pegged to the euro.
And Frits Bolkenstein isn't really a "new" Thatcher, he's 80 years old. I do think he is one of our most awesome politicians. He's fairly right wing even for his party, but was in the two Purple coalitions (meaning no Christian Democrats) with the Social Democrats and in my opinion they got a lot done in the Netherlands. He was one of the first to talk about immigration, which went against political correctness. More recently he has called for legalisation of all drugs (not just the green stuff) which goes against his own party, and he has been critical of the current VVD/PvdA coalition and of the EU. This is one of the very few politicians I consider intelligent. We need more people like him.
Remember, trollcatman, that they stole from ordinary Cypriot citizens. People running small businesses, single mothers, people without a lot of money, people who badly had debts to pay, people serving in the Sovereign Base Areas, people who had retired there. This is absolutely unforgivable.
I agree that it sucks for the Cypriots. But they should blame their own government for it. The other EU countries are not responsable for savings in Cyprus. Why would they be? That would set a very bad example: you can take your money to the riskiests banks in countries that are rated junk, because the EU taxpayer will pick up the bill anyway. People need to be aware that not all banks or countries are equally safe, because they aren't.
The Cyprus governments have let the banking sector grow out of control. There's 120 billion the banks, and the GDP is 20 billion. If you put your money in a Cyprus bank you are essentially betting on their banks and government.
And they did not steal any money. The savings were only guaranteed up to 100k, and they did not take a cut from any under 100k. For anyone with more money in those banks: would you rather there was no bailout, and everbody just got 100k and whatever would be left (=absolutely nothing)? Even those of 100k+ got a better deal than they were owed.
I'm not sure what you want to happen. Have foreign taxpayers pick up the bill again? Perhaps Farrage would like a referendum in the UK: Do we tax the British so we can give 5 billion to Cyprus? [Yes] / [f**k NO]
I think I already know the outcome of that one.
From what I understand, the EU wanted to tax small depositors at a much smaller rate, if at all. The Cypriot government initially proposed the heavy tax on small depositors to ease the burden on large depositors. It is thought that Cypriot politicians still had dreams of keeping Cyprus alive as a tax haven economy for Russian millionaires and billionaires.
The main problem with the EU, specifically the Central Bank, is that it doesn't understand that contractionary monetary and fiscal policy is contractionary.

The bank that was affected offered their customers 5% earns on their bankmoney for the last years. While every other bank in europe only could offer 0,5-1% earnings. People that have 100.000 EUR dont simply give their money to a bank. They go to professional money advisors, that told them to give their money to the cypriot bank, because of them offering crazy 5% earnings on their savings.
I ask you what alternative had there been, that you would have preferred: Letting the bank crash, let all people, including those that are so underordinary poor people, that they dont even have such peanuts as 100.000 EUR and loose their complete money. You think they would be happier about it?
Or let other people pay therefor that some people willingly gave their money to a bank, that was betraying them with their knowledge. I mean 5% earnings, thats as much as 5 to 10 times the earning they would have gotten at any other european bank, and this should not have been obvious? For ordinary people that have ordinary 100.000 EUR, that are advised from ordinary money advisers (as every ordinary person has that owns ordinary 100.000 EUR)? What do you think would the police tell you if you told them: "Sorry, I lost a minute ago 5.000 EUR. There was a guy and he promised me to sell me a brandnew Mercedes for 5.000 EUR instead of 50.000, So this was such a good offer, I had to give him my money immediately and he promised to come back and give me my mercedes, but now hes gone. So where do I get now my money back or my Mercedes? Someone has to pay me.
They gave money to a bank that promised them earnings, no propper working bank could have promised. So they bank does a debt to pay the 5% earnings to their customers they cant afford themselfs, that the customers DID receive. And when the bank crashes because of the debts is has, because of the earnings they pay to their customers, then others shall pay while the ones responsible for it: The betraying bank and the people that let them betray themselfs by a bank that promised them the 10 times amount of the others bank are the poor, poor victims? Its simply the return of the money that the bank betrayed everyone, the money they gave to the people by taking a debt, whom they know they cant repay.
The original money isnt even lost, only the earning of the crazy 5%. If they kept their money for two years at the bank, they wear earning 5.000 EUR for their ordinary 100.000 EUR in the first year and 5.250 EUR in the second year. That makes ordinary 110.250 EUR after two years. And now the ordinary people that have more then 100.000 EUR (most of them even foreigners, that were advised by international money advisers to do so, anyway if what the cypriot bank promised could be real) are cut for 20%, which is 22.050 EUR, remaining for them 88.200 EUR. If you would compare it that they would have given their money to a ordinary bank with 1% earnings, after two years with a start money of 100.000 EUR, they would have gotten in sum 102.010 EUR. That makes 14.000 EUR damage for them. Calculated from the realistic 102.010 EUR they would have gotten from every other bank, and not from the unrealistic 110.250 EUR that they hoped to get by a betrayer, thats 13,70% damage for them in the end. Hopefully its a fee, that shows them to be more responsible the next time, instead of simply finding the one that promises them the best things, without caring how this bank or person plan to achieve what he promises.
Those you defend are no poor ordinary people. Its rich people that were willingly trying to betray the real ordinary people that dont have 100.000 EUR. They wanted to do their money games as usual, as they did with immobilias in the US, as they did with internet fonds, trying to get money as much as they can EVEN WHEN EVERY PROFESSIONAL ALREADY TELLS THEM THAT THE SYSTEM CANT WORK AND WILL CRASH, with the goal to jump away before the crash. And the ones that didnt manage to jump away from the crash THEY KNEW IT WOULD COME, then they expect the real ordinary people, the ones that dont have 100.000 EUR, the single moms, the retired ones, the poor ones working for their money and producing good we all benefit from with their physical work, shall pay for their god damn money games, as it has happened again and again. Then we shall give them the money they lost with their idiotic financial games and save their earnings and banks. And the ones responsible for it, are then the "poor ordinary people" that have to be payed by poor single moms, and retired people?
Sorry, but no more money for money games of asocial rich people, that are willingly crushing banks and system to earn their money and let the really poor people pay their debts. The ones that are poor or have normal wealthy were NOT affected, while those bastards ruining systems to earn money and expecting to be repayed by US underordinary people not having 100.000 EUR, this time got the kick in the ass themselfs. And if it was for me they should get a bunch of kicks rightaway into the private parts as a bonus.
The poor single mom you speak of, that has no money anyway sure was not responsible for it. So why should the EU again pay money debts that rich people produced with corrupt banks, and then be forced to raise taxes for their ordinary citziens?
This is just silly. The EU is the opposite. The EU must be very pleased to learn of migrant workers shot in Greece for asking for their back pay. It shows that the
"pampered worker" of Greece is something of the past and the lash of discipline is coming down upon these wayward children.
