Look... A poll...

And yes. This question has been asked before, last time I checked. But since DnD 4.0, necromancy just isn't the same any more....

You need another option:
A well balanced combination of all the above reasons.

Sorry. Don't know how to edit polls... This is only the second or third thread I ever started... I usually just troll other people's threads...

I post in PPR to exchange views in a respectful manner with other WP members.

I've always loved that quote from George Mallory.

Because I feel it is my responsibility to represent my religion and correct false information.

...and to pick fights. I'd say it's a tie between those two reasons.

To debate, intelligent or not. And why debate? To show just how right I am when I'm right and how wrong the other side is.

I chose "debate" as opposed to "pointless debate" and "intelligent debate". Not "pointless" because what's the point of that? Not "intelligent" because there are too few people around here that really think about the things they argue about (although they do exist).

I have to disagree with the idea that "trolling is an art form". There are some people who are just way too easy to spin up. I've even had the experience of trying to be calm and as reasonable as possible while the other guy just spins up like a top and gets madder and madder all by himself.

Trolling is way too easy to be considered an art form. Art forms require at least some degree of skill. Some people are so easy to spin up that *not* trolling them is an art form.

Trolling is of limited scope in that trolling only effects the lower hanging fruit of a forum; the thin skinned and neurotic. I find trolls to be entertaining. :D
To drill considerably deeper and cause more widespread butthurt it takes a greater investment of time and effort plus a new user name and posting profile with no history of trolling or meanness.

Probably boredom, though I'll also second the post that mentioned a life that has lost all meaning.

Another interesting poll question would be something along the lines of:

Have you ever read a post in PPR that has actually changed your views on anything?

I can't think of anything I've ever read that has, and I've never seen a post to the effect of "Wow, I used to think 'A' was the case, but now I'm definitely thinking 'B' is, all courtesy of what WP-member-whomever posted." And I won't be holding my breath awaiting reading such a post, either. But it would be interesting to see if such a thing has ever occurred, even if it is up there with unicorn sitings. :?

I pay attention to it because I hope that through a process akin to osmosis that I will gain some new wisdom. I post replies only to the easy topics.
