There seems to conflicting ideas (in general) as to where too much money is being spent and not enough is being spent. If you were in charge then what would you have taxes pay for and what is currently paid for with taxes that should not be?

Everything that they are currently used for is ok, the problem lies on how its being budgeted. As someone against the current crop of obamacare and such ill be the first to say I'm not against government healthcare, what I am against is how the beneficiaries are laid out. If we are going to do something it should work for everyone. Be it from the single mom with no job to the CEO of Boeing. If you want extra coverage or a 'vip' to not have to go through the process that's up to you.

I, also against the huge military spending, even though its one of the biggest economy movers and innovators we have. But considering most of the cost is in just upkeep I think getting rid of older equipment would be the better idea.

What I do have a problem though is how taxes are collected in the United States. That system really needs to be changed. Starting with the current untaxable institutions Ike churches. Followed by creating new tax brackets and balancing the ammounts to more reasonable levels

Taxes should pays for army, police, law courts. They should not be transfer payments from those who have to those who have not.

But what about transfer payments from those who have not to those who have??

As in:
1/ Payments to farmers, so that their goods will be competitive with those produced more efficiently overseas?
2/ Payments to banks to bail them out from the problems they caused.
3/ Payments to car companies, to bail them out when it was their incompetence that caused the problem.

For a capitalist county, the USA has some strange middle class socialist practices.
Your taxes at work, supporting those that don't deserve it.

Or:
The golden rule: those that have the gold, make the rules.

Nah. If Bill Gates wants one of those, then he can go ahead and pay for it, and float it where he wants. There is no need for collective taxes going to ridiculous boondoggles like that.

We have the Second Amendment. There is no need for army, police and law courts. The Second Amendment assures transfer payments between parties.

Public transportation is a big one for me. So is healthcare I can see the problem with people relying on transfer payments and not even trying to work but there should be some public services that lower the cost of living. Limiting welfare so that a person can only remain on it for a certain amount of time before being cut off could be an idea. I suspect that's already been thought of and proven to have its problems. It's difficult to find a balance between helping people who are genuinely making an effort and still suffering and making sure people still want to work.
