An analyst says the economic condition in Israel is deteriorating as Tel Aviv is facing stagflation with almost a quarter of the population in poverty.

Thousands of Israelis took to the streets in Tel Aviv on Saturday to protest the economic policies of Benjamin Netanyahu’s administration and mark the two-year anniversary of 2011 social protests in Israel.

Citing economic opportunities as the main reason, the poll conducted by Israeli newspaper Haaretz said that “almost 40 percent of Israelis are thinking of emigrating” to other states.

In October, a survey conducted by the Israeli humanitarian aid organization indicated that some 75 percent of Israelis fear that their economy may collapse, which shows a huge increase in the figure compared with that of 2010.

If memory serves, the 2011 protests had tens of thousands, why the drop in turnout?

Oh, and citing to an Iranian news site is rather unusual, since last I checked, the owner (ie, the Iranian government) doesn't actually acknowledge the existence of the State of Israel.

I would much rather cite an Iranian news source than some insular and blinkered American news source that doesn't give any coverage to what happens outside of the US except for a few cases biased towards the interests of Washington and Wall Street. I have many issues with the British media and I do not rate it highly but the American media is dreadful in comparison.

I don't know what to think.

I hear ads about "helping the Jewish people" but I know a minister who would be talking about it if it was that bad. He's not...yet.

Considering how many nations are hurting economically, sounds like the Jewish people aren't doing all that bad.

Giving the State of Israel a hand is the burden of Jews. It should not be the burden of all the tax-payers.

Israel is -our- baby and -we (the Jews)- are responsible for its well being. Gentiles need not be involved and it were better for Israel if they were not involved.

Press TV?! ! The Iranian propaganda channel?! !

You're seriously using Press TV as a source?! !! :D :D :D :D

No response necessary. Go and renew your Jobbik membership.

Also: Israel's future looks extremely positive, given the extreme potential riches of the natural gas exploration taking place off southern Israel's coast.

That said, I believe Britain should cut all funding for Israel. I have no problem with that. By the same token, Britain should cut all aid to the Palestinians too (the vast majority of UK aid goes to 'Palestine'). The EU funds a lot of PA projects. Leave the EU and let them fund terrorist-sympathisers of their own.

Let them sort their own problems out. Israel will survive and prosper. The Palestinians will be forced to grow up, and Israel will thank us for it.

i seem to recall reading recently that Israel is also suffering a brain drain; that many of its young intellectuals are emigrating to other countries, particularly Germany, ironically enough.

Of course, they used an Iranian news source so they are automatically a fascist.

Don't be so hysterical.

And I seem to recall that you weren't getting much approval for your "conclusion" when you posted that thread.

I seem to recall the article was written by an Israeli newspaper so don't take my word for it.

WP is full of pro Israel hawks anyway.

The OP has spoken favourably of the Iranian regime.

Press TV is the mouthpiece of the Iranian regime, which is a brutal religious theocracy.

I'm not being hysterical, just realistic.

It's like someone else being not unsympathetic to communism and posting news stories from the DPRK's news service, or Vietnam's.

Respectable journalists used to work for Press TV but left years ago when they realised the kind of people that they were helping to support.

Now they have... George Galloway and Lauren Booth. Perhaps they should get married.

I could say the same thing about the BBC being the British propaganda channel - it certainly was during the Blair years. I refuse to buy a TV licence.

Just to illustrate the scope of the Anti-Semitism on Press TV:

Presenting the forgery The Protocols of the Elders of Zion as a factual document:
http://www.presstv.com/detail/181711.html

9/11 was a Jewish conspiracy:
http://www.presstv.com/detail/2013/04/2 ... tside-job/

Israel was behind the 2011 attack against a Coptic church in Alexandria:
http://www.presstv.com/detail/158351.html

Israel was behind the Newton shooting:
http://www.presstv.com/detail/2012/12/1 ... n-carnage/

... aaaand....

Holocaust denial (gee, no one saw *that* one coming, did they?):
http://edition.presstv.ir/detail/56287.html

To accept Press TV as a reliable source for *any* type of information is naive, at best.

To accept Press TV as a reliable source for *any* type of information about Israel requires a truly Herculean display of suspension of disbelief.

But I ain't even mad. In fact, I cannot help but feel a certain degree of smug satisfaction when the so-called Anti-Zionists need to rely upon such a blatantly disreputable source in order to further their agenda. What is next? Ikhwanweb?

Apparently, The Guardian was unavailable.

That is the way it is now, but that is not how it should be.
