In light of the Hutchins release, if they don't release Manning what does this mean?
The rule of law is dead and they want to show approval of killing Iraqi cops and disapproval of what Manning did? 100%  100%  [ 2 ]
It's an act of justice to not apply the laws equally to these two because Iraqi cop killing is good and what Manning did is bad? 0%  0%  [ 0 ]

Lawrence Hutchins released

Lawrence Hutchins is an American marine convicted of the murder of an Iraqi policeman. His conviction was thrown out on the grounds that he was held in solitary for seven days and this mistreatment invalidates the entire sentence...

As Bradley Manning has been subjected to abuse far worse, his freedom ought to be a sure thing...

More and more often, the rule of law is being disregarded.

The Ft. Hood shooter should have already been convicted and executed for treason. There is no question of his guilt or motives. It has taken this long because of political obstruction of the military judicial process.

In answer to the poll question: It probably wouldn't be as extreme as the poll options.

It would probably be more like "murder is bad but we will let you go because of the CAUP, whereas the CAUP doesn't mitigate breaking secrets".

Personally, I don't think 7 days of CAUP is equivalent to a life sentence. Although looking at the link, it doesn't seem to be the CAUP that has led to this overturning, but rather the denial of the right to a lawyer.

The US military should not be making errors like these that allow for sentences to be overturned.

Bradley Manning did not have access to a lawyer either.
