Why does the "Hand of God" look like the opening scene from that "War of the Worlds" TV show?

Is it because the "Hand of God" has only three fingers?

Maybe God created Martians in his own image? Humans were just a prototype with too many appendages.

The human mind is always trying to look after patterns that are familiar to past events and experiences (such as a hand).
We recognize a hand, when we see the pattern formed as a hand, although some have a difficulty with recognizing patterns, this is how the mind generally works.

Therefore there is nothing mysterious about this particular picture. It is our brain creating the association of what it percieves as being a hand.

This is an evolutionary advantage as it made our ancestors better to communicate by simply drawing a line that makes a pattern of a hand, thus
making other humans recognize "we are talking about hands now" when they saw a cave painting of a hand.

Those who did not have that ability were not favored by natural selection, hence could not reproduce as many individuals, whereby
humanity naturally chose those with the ability to recognize hands in patterns, like this photo of a galaxy or whatever it is.
