Adulterers may be stoned under new Afghan law

"We are working on the draft of a sharia penal code where the punishment for adultery, if there are four eyewitnesses, is stoning," said Rohullah Qarizada, who is part of the Sharia Islamic Law Committee working on the draft and head of the Afghan Independent Bar Association.

Without the presence of the "Western Infidel Crusaders", women will be stoned to death if they are accused of adultery by four or more "witnesses", whether or not any such "crime" has taken place.

... two lovers narrowly escaped being stoned in Baghlan province north of Kabul, but were publicly shot over the weekend instead ... while they were fleeing, suddenly their car crashed and locals arrested them. People wanted to stone them on the spot ... the next day, both were shot dead in public ... the woman's father had ordered the shooting of both the man and the woman.

A Muslim man can legally order that his own daughter be shot and killed for being seen in public with her boyfriend - THIS is Islam.

Would the people that behave this way be any nicer if they were Christian?Maybe they just use religion as an excuse for this behavior.

But, of course, we MUST proceed with projecting our own views on others: Their religion is nice, female-friendly, unbeliever-friendly, pacifistic and so on, because we can't cope with the harsh reality.

I feel so grateful for being born in western Europe.

I would suggest that we ask the Afghan christians that, Miss Lizard, but unfortunately, they're somewhat difficult to get hold of...

All religions are guilty of mayhem,the Spanish Inquisition,witch burning,and the Old Testament is full of smiting and people getting stoned.And not stoned in the fun sense.I don't believe all Muslims behave this way,and it's up to them to change the way some of their faith behave.
I'm not in any way justifying what is done by fundamentalists,it's horrible.

I feel really bad. There are many Muslims who are very peaceful (I am friends with a few), and they are some of the sweetest people you ever want to meet. It is unfortunate with the dissonance between the peaceful and violent.

So theyre the same as the Jews in Jesus's time, and stone adulterers. The fact that they are just like the christians and jews of the NT really sucks!

There's hypocrites in every faith, but Islam's actually founded on violence and destruction. I wish I could say this kind of news surprises me, but sadly it doesn't.

Don't you DARE compare Muslims to christians they are polar opposites. True Christians are all about love and forgiveness. WE do NOT condemn or hurt anybody because of their sins. We just gently try to show them their wrongs.

This is one group of people following Islam. They are not the religion in its entirety; just like the Westboro Baptist Church shouldn't be described as "THIS is Christianity". Not all Muslims behave like this – the ones I grew up with and went to school with were ordinary, decent people like everyone else.

Well, if most countries that called themselves Christian were based on the ideology of Fred Phelps, I would have to actually read the Bible before being sure that Christianity isn't founded on hatred... why wouldn't I extend the same to Islam?

So, what does the Qu'ran have to say on the matter of slaying idolators and the like?
