I think they might be on to something, just that they're clearly doing it with no fluidity whatsoever:

I probably wouldn't give em a dull stare when saying something like that, makes it artificially creepy. Probably better to glibly throw something out like "Glad you're here!" or "Glad you're alive!" or something along those lines.

True though, if we did more random acts of edification it might catch.
