As a kid I loved the Smurfs, as a teenager I loved science fiction especially Star Trek.

Both series of prmowanie accused of communism, because the economy there is not based on money but on common ownership. Now I know that it was in fact a resource-based economy :D

Star Trek could be viewed as a form of communism, but there were some major things to consider:

1.) Resources were all but unlimited. Replicators could provide just about anything you want.

2.) Humanity had undergone a brutal nuclear world war 3, decimating the population and resulting in a paradime shift away from greed and corruption.

Keep in mind, Star Trek never really showed how the system worked or how people lived and was very inconsistent. We know money somehow exists because in Deep Space Nine, Sisko's father ran a restaurant with paying customers.

Did they ever actually show people paying at Sisko's? I don't remember but I didn't actually pay to much attention.

You see money in DS9, but DS9 also looks at life outside the Federation.

The Ferengi was cool, they were so greedy that make them funny, a pastiche of Capitalism.
