(HOLY LIGHT PROTECTION IS) IF YOU BE HOLY AND FOLLOWING GOD.
BUT IM WONDERING IS THE BIBLE REAL.....
FROM MY RESEARCH ... GOD IS A HOLY GOD......AND YOU NEED TO BE HOLY TO GET A HOLY LIGHT SHEILD.......
YES RESPECT HOLY LOVE .........
ANYHOW......
DO YOU BELIEVE IT IS NOT MADE BY GOD BUT BY MAN ... EVEN IF IT CONTAINS TRUTH
) HOLY GHOST POWER ![]()
QUESTION: DO YOU BELIEVE THE BIBLE ISwritten BY GOD PROPHETS OR BY MAN.
IM CONFUSED SINCE SOME TEACH THAT JESUS IS NOT THE SON OF GOD........
The Bible is a real work. It's one of the great works of literature.
If you believe it's written, or inspired, by God, I won't contradict you on that.
I believe it was written by various people who wanted to extol the Abrahamic monotheistic religion of the Near East--and, later, the Christian twist on the above religion, which has, over time, spread all around the world.
Dont know what you're trying to say here but it sounds ass-backward.
It SOUNDS like you're saying that the three "Abrahamic Religions" (Judaism, Christianity, Islam) already existed- and THEN somebody wrote the Bible.
When in fact it was the other way around.Essentially the Bible came first- and THEN monotheism spread beyond Judea to the rest of the Middle East (its a little more complicated than that, but thats the ghist) before it later still spread beyond the Middle East. I hope that you're aware of that.
Also- informing us that "the Bible was written to extol religion" kinda makes you Captain Obvious. Surely you can do better than that.

First up turn the CAPS LOCK off.
The reason you are confused may be because most christians homogenise the bible, they ignore all the glaring contradictions saying that it is the gist of the message not the accuracy of its telling that is important. Personally I see this as another sign that many christians display a fair degree cognitive dissonance.
With the particular case of jesus as son of god. in the bible he first becomes the adopted son at his death and resurrection (Mark), then later writings have him adopted at his baptism (matthew), then other writings at his conception (luke). Paul has him as a lower deity before taking human form who then gets rewarded for his work with a grant of equal status with god. Then finally after centuries of argument the council of Nicaea in 325 ce settled on the Trinity. So quite clearly the bible is man made and has nothing to do with the supernatural (well at least the bits about Jesus and his parental status)

That's why Captain Obvious is the Captain! Sometimes, the Obvious could provide clarity. Or would you rather be Private Obdurate?
I wasn't trying to make any point. I was just trying to keep it simple.
Yes, of course the Old Testament/Torah was written down between about 1500BC and 500BC. There was much going on in the monotheistic religion before then, though. Much went on in the 500 or so years between the last of the Old Testament and the beginning of the New Testament.
Of course, the New Testament was compiled after Jesus was crucified--over the period of about 50 years.
Obviously, much went on in the 600 or so years between the New Testament and the Koran. Including the compilation of the Talmud--circa 200-400 AD.
Of course, the Koran was compiled, allegedly with Mohammed as the "medium" around 630 AD.

I believe that the Bible by was written by various men to extol maleness and to perpetuate the male-dominated patriarchy, thus keeping women subjugated and diminishing their accomplishments.

The various parts of the Bible were each written for different purposes. The books that were compiled into each section were also included for different purposes again. Some individual books are compilations from several authors, which have been added to, redacted and made to fit together, for.... other purposes.
An example: The story of Jesus meeting the woman and telling her that she had many partners/husbands. At the end, Jesus says, "go and sin no more." That last bit is believed to have been added later, by a "priestly editor," to make the intent of the story clearer.
So much re-purposing of the parts of the Bible is just one amongst many reasons to believe it is man made.

Oh, the Bible was written by men, alright. Thus, it projects the concept of male dominance in every part.

I forget the name of the book written by a woman - part of the apocrypha. Was it Ruth? {scratches head}

One of the four writers of the first five books of the bible is thought likely to have been a woman.
Christianity DID come before the new testament was written.
Because it references the fall of Jerusalem, the earliest it could have been written was about 62 CE but it could easily have been written as late as nearly 325 CE for the Council of Nicaea.
The new testament was just tacked onto an obscure but "ancient" religion of one of their subjected micro-groups (the virtually unknown Jews) to engender it with "credibility" by brilliant Roman power-mongers (Rome was very adept at persuasion) to shift Rome's fading military power to a stronger quasi-political power and to mentally stabilize their military soldiers with a higher-power belief system to make them braver in battle because they're going to heaven anyway.
And it worked:
The Holy Roman Empire stayed at very high levels of power and influence and wealth for another 1,200 or so years and even today has a tremendous amount of power for a "simple" religious group.
The New Testament is a Sales Book to get free money and labor, and the Old Testament is a hodge-podge of random cr@p advertising how cool the Israelites were; how guilty everyone should feel because the poor things got "bullied" so much; how guilty they themselves should feel and therefore give more loot (offerings) to their leaders; and how they "really" had a prior right to all the really good land, everywhere, all along.

I read that somewhere too... but I forget where. It almost certainly had to be one of the many theses on DH that I've read.

This description sounds like something Douglas Adams would write.. or the Monty Python crew.

It's nice for me to read posts from people who seem to have similar opinions regarding religion as I.
