Jesus was a Semitic JEW!

The vast majority of people who lived in the Galil about 2010 years ago would be classified as "white" (non-Asian, non-African)

There skin color might be some what darker or more olive than the folks who lived in Hiberia at the time.

The fact is Jesus would have "looked Jewish" or at least Palestinian. For example, pick a male of about 30 years at random from Gaza and you will pick someone who looked liked Jesus.

This is stupid, that article on Slate was nothing but click bait and now Fox News is getting in on it too. IIRC the article wanted to replace white Santa with a penguin or something, apparently they don't know penguins only live in the south pole and it couldn't be a Polar Bear for obvious reasons. People need to get over themselves, believe what they want to believe, and stop whining about other people doing the same.

Lol, maybe we can have Penguin Santa in the Southern Hemisphere. It'd make more sense than a guy wearing a woollen suit in mid-summer. I kinda appreciate that she also talked about the facts of Santa to accommodate children ... but it's Fox News: what kids are going to be watching it? Of course, she also said that Jesus was white. I hope that was just an oversight (which happens to all of us) on her part.


I don't get it. Are you saying that Hispanics, Pacific Islanders, Indigenous Australians and Native Americans would also be classified as "white"? Or are you saying that Jews in that region back then would have had white skin (which is doubtful)?

Or did you mean something else entirely?

Why is it doubtful that Jews in the Middle East 2000 years ago would have had white skin? Semitic people in that area currently (and including prior to the recent re-creation of Israel) have white skin. "White" doesn't just mean Northern European.

"White" is a social rather than a biological categorization. Since the anchors of Fox News (as well as myself) are in the U.S., it makes sense to use the U.S. Census racial categorization. In the U.S. census, people of the Middle East are under the "white" category. For the record, so are a lot of Hispanic people (in the U.S.). "White Hispanic" is a census category. So using the U.S. census racial categories (which is reasonable for U.S. TV anchors), it is perfectly reasonable to assume that Jesus was white (by current definitions) just as modern residents of that area are.

There may be WP posters who are anthropologists by profession or special interest who can dispute my claim based on migration patterns of the last 2,000 years. I have only read lightly in the field. But as far as I know, the people currently in the area aren't all that genetically different from the people who would have been in the area 2,000 years ago.

There is "White".

And then there is "White".

The Jesus that Americans are used to seeing depicted in pictures ( the guy with the auburn hair, and auburn goatee, and blue eyes) resembles the real Jesus about as much as that East Asian guy in that Chinese Icon resembled the real Jesus. Not very much.

He had to have looked like a modern Arab, or a modern Oriental Jew, of the modern middle east: olive skin, brown eyes, brown or darker hair.

Middle Eastern Semites are lumped under "Caucasian" - so strictly speaking- would be classed as "White". But Jesus couldnt have been what most Americans of the Jim Crow era thought of as "lilly White".

The Fox commentators should make it clear that he was not exactly West European looking.

Not anymore, not since they began mixing their seed with the brown bears. If this goes on, mixing two different colours that nature shows us shouldn't be mixed, it will lead to the extinction of the white ra- I mean, of polar bears.
