1 Kings 10:22 (KJV):

"The king had a fleet of trading ships at sea along with the ships of Hiram. Once every three years it returned, carrying gold, silver and ivory, and apes and baboons."

^By the way, these are monkeys (Barbary macaques) rather than apes, although they are also called Gibraltar apes.

That is probably the kinda critter the Bible was talking about.

Any tailless non-human primate was called 'an ape' in English before scientists started to make seperate official pigeonholes of 'apes' and 'monkeys'. So the barbary 'apes' that inhabit Gibralter are really tailess 'monkeys' in the modern scientific taxon.

Interestingly the Bible does not mention kitty cats at all.

That's odd. There were pretty important next door in Egypt.

Maybe that was their problem. Their lives would have been so much better if they'd had some p*****s.

Yes cats were sacred in Egypt for thousands of years. But seemed to have been unknown outside of Egypt, even in the nieghboring middle east, until they suddenly spread around the whole mediterranean in Roman Empire times.
