Dennis is back in N Korea,
It was the VICE crew that got all this started

American diplomacy at its best.
What is so starange is Dennis is everything the average N. Korea is not on fear of death, an open hipster/rebel.
The purge of the old guard is in progress in N. Korea.
I do not know where this will lead, but I think it will lead to some kind of change for sure.
Almost all the public comments about this are against Rodman going there.
If somthing bad happened to Rodman it could indirectly lead to? Hopefully Kim realizes this.

Rodman has always been Mr "go against the grain"
So, it kinda makes sense he'd be friends with Kin Jong Un.
What I wonder is if he manage dto convince Kim that he's really Obama.
or maybe both he and Kim decided to pull a fast one on the N. Korean people and convince them that Rodman is Obama.

I'm not being racist, I'm just trying to understand this strange relationship.

Maybe Rodman is working for the CIA?

Just in case I ever wanted to go to the bad timing awards in person I received an email form Koryo Tours today offering to sell me a spot at the game.



Not really, Koryo have been going there since 1993. You have pretty much always been able to go there as a tourist (not that you ever should because the money goes straight to the government).



Anyone who says they know what this purge means is drawing conclusions that are not supported by evidence. No one has enough information to interpret it. Not BR Myers or Charles Armstrong or pretty much anyone. The Chinese scholars in Yanbian have the most information and they are all unsure.



If something happens to Rodman the world will shrug. They took an 85 year old veteran recently and held him for quite a while. They have an aid worker Kenneth Bae in a labor camp. An NBA chap who calls KJU his friend for life and says Bae is not his problem will not cause generate much concern if he gets in trouble.



KJU is a fan of basketball and ex-NBA players who visit make for great propaganda.

I dont think Rodman is in the employ of the CIA although they should be watching him.
The risk to the US is the same as N Korea, if somthing bad happens to Rodman.
When Obama is leaving offiice he should give his noble peace prize to Rodman, as Rodman did somthing to deserve it.

Nonsense. All Rodman has done is provide a propaganda boost to the government, right after a purge.

Nobody knows how this will turn out in the end. If this is the beginning of N. Korea dumping the old ways and opening up the public may view Rodman positively in the end.
I do not think it can be a smooth transition, this is not possible.
VICE is what got Rodman involved.
Now if you visited the N Korean hookers in Shenyang you would know this. Just kidding.
But actually that is where I heard the horror stories about how things work in NK.

And the 85 year old vet held there, very predictable to what the N Koreans did. There are stuck 60 years ago in the war still.
To let you know I truly loath the NK government.

Not really, I know many veterans who have gone in and out of NK. The government there has ample opportunity to decline your visa and they often do. What happened to Newman was most likely due to an issue arising between him and his minders, some are pretty relaxed but some are very overbearing.



Well I have met with Koreans in Shenyang and defectors elsewhere. I have flown into Shenyang from Pyongyang with Air Koryo.



Unlikely, he will most likely be viewed the same way as many former of the chaps who tried to engage the Soviet Union are, as a useful idiot. The North has many hands extended towards it for engagement purposes, we don't really need an ex-NBA chap going in there right after a purge to play basketball with KJU.

One thing I can relate too is the extreme boozing that I experienced running in the upper echelons of China. Heavy social pressure to drink very heavily. I could not take it, it was overwhelming. I came up with the doctor excuse and I was taking medicine so I could not drink (big relief). I would not be shocked if it goes on around Kim Jong-un too.

I doubt he's going to save the world. He goes to N Korea big deal.

I feel bad for Rodman since I think his heart is in the right place, it's not his responsibility free prisoners or bring human rights to North Korea. He's just a basketball player that happened to play on a team with Michael Jordan who Kim Jong-Un and his father had a special affection for. From what I've heard, in North Korea they are taught that Americans are evil baby eaters who aim to exterminate their country at any moment's notice so ANY diplomacy with them is a step in the direction. Rodman isn't responsible for our government's failure.

Am I the only person who thinks that Rodman is doing all of this just to whore himself out for attention? His entire NBA career was full of that behavior, after all.

Rodman is a nut looking for attention.

That is how I read it. He wants to be remembered (perhaps as they guy Kim killed).

Hahaha I doubt if he gets executed.
