Do you think the Russian government will really have the safety of athletes, spectators, and Russian citizens as a high priority during the Sochi Olympics?

Well, I'll be watching the Olympics from the safety of my living room. I'll just be sure not to spend any of my cash on those who advertise during the events. This is almost as bad as when the Olympics were hosted in Germany during its National Socialist years.

The 1936 Olympics were great, An American Black Man took Gold, and that after having to swim to Germany, as ships did not haul Blacks.

The Olympics are not about your politics, economic system, religion, they are about how fast can you run, jump, ski.

They have also been ruined, as everyone used to have to compete nude.

You need an OTHER option.

I think the Russians are perfectly capable of securing the Olympics.

Having said that, I fully expect a "terrorist" attack at Sochi...and I'm willing to bet the CIA will have a hand in it if it happens.

The Russians know the world is watching. They don't do the "warm and fuzzy" garbage other nations do...they are ruthless on terrorists. In spite of this, there is a lot of bad blood between the USA and Russia over political embarrassments in the media. Trust me, there are people here that would have orgasms if athletes/spectators died at Sochi so they could criticize the failure of Russian security (and Putin) to secure the events.

If it happens, don't be surprised if the western mainstream media has a bad guy ready to blame within the hour of it happening...even before they've recovered any "evidence" at the scene.

All this high-profile coverage on the issue is telegraphing someone's forthcoming punch to the face.
