Let's appoint more federal judges with long civil servant careers like Clarence Thomas (9 years in the Reagan administration), Samuel Alito (13 years in public prosecution) and Antonin Scalia (6-7 years in the Nixon-Ford administration) and fewer corporate lawyers like Sonia Sotomayor (who was a partner in a private law firm specializing in intellectual property litigation until appointed as federal judge in 1992).
I'm sure the progressive Democrats would love to see such a development.
