The prison sentences seem rather harsh. But, back in the day, Christians gladly faced torture, prison and executions for their faith. One of them was Valentine, whose beheading we just celebrated.
Why don't more Christians do this any more?

The Nun wasn't put in prison for her faith, she was put in prison for breaking into a Uranium storage facility.
In most countries, its no longer illegal to practice Christianity so no opportunity to become a Martyr, however, you can still be a genuine Christian fighting for your faith in China see LINK HERE
At some stage in the future, there will be a Global Government to which all must submit and receive a mark, you will then see Christians being persecuted for simple faith.
Many Christians believe LINK the FEMA Camps and LINK the FEMA Coffins are set up and waiting for them specifically rather than the general population unrest following a collapse of the monetary system, so in effect, many Christians are suffering the anxiety of what they perceive as imminent persecution and are quite willing to except it if and when the time comes.

True, but it was her faith which moved her to commit the crime.
As our Henry David Thoreau once mused

Quote:
...Under a government which imprisons unjustly, the true place for a just man is also a prison....

True, but it was her faith which moved her to commit the crime. In this context, her motivation is irrelevant, since her "religion" also dictates that she should not break the law. Romans 13:1-2 says: "Obey the government, for God is the one who put it there. All governments have been placed in power by God. So those who refuse to obey the laws of the land are refusing to obey God, and punishment will follow."
She wasn't doing God's work, but someone else's.

In May, a federal jury in Knoxville, Tennessee, found Sister Megan Rice; Greg Boertje-Obed, 57; and Michael Walli, 63, guilty of destroying U.S. government property and causing more than $1,000 in damage to federal property.
It was not immediately clear what the sentences were for the two other peace activists.
It was not immediately clear what the sentences were for the two other peace activists.
It is also not immediately clear what motivated the two men she was with -- there were three criminals involved, but the Media is putting all of the focus on the woman's "Christian Martyrdom" while completely ignoring the religious beliefs of the other two criminals, thus keeping people interested in a story that would likely have been buried long ago were it not for the religious angle.
