Is the biggest BS I hear and I hear it f***ing everyday. I was talking to this man and he just went off on a tangent and started going on about how immigrants come from a warzone and so how they're all used to criminal behaviour, implying that they're all criminals. Such f***ing BS.

It is scary how common this attitude is around here what with the propaganda the media are showing as well. Even in the 'documentaries' which don't have an obvious anti title, you see that they will keep mentioning for e.g. that pickpockets are mostly Romanian or come from Eastern Europe. This is scary to see.

People are so easily lead, and they act as if they're better than you because they 'know' it all. F*** them.

My question is how do you respond to such people? I go silent and try to change the subject because people usually get quite worked up over the subject pretty quickly, as if people on benefits and immigrants are evil. I really don't like this attitude at all, and it's an angry attitude.

Are you an American?

Or a Brit? Or what?

If you're an American its pretty simple. Just say "Yeah! Sitting Bull, and Osceola didnt like all of these immigrants coming here and 'taking over' either!"

^^^ Precisely that. Someone once taught me that I am not obligated to take the bait in conversations. Unless I am in the mood to play a rousing game of "Ain't It Awful" (Eric Berne) I don't go there.

Hey,I'm a Hillbilly and I don't live in a trailer and I'm not republican.
There are many upper crust people in mansions who don't like immigrants except to clean the house.

I am an immigrant but if those who were born here had a problem with immigration it does not bother me as long as they are not personally disrespectful. Free speech is great and the should be free to voice their opinion if they aren't hurting anyone. But like half the people in my city are first generation immigrants so this is not really an issue. I strongly believe that immigrants were invited here because it has economical benefits for the country. If someone has other concerns about immigration, that is fine, I would simply tell them to voice such concerns to their politicians. If their concerns are not based on fact I would tell them. Still, if the people of a country do not want immigrants they can very well choose not to invite any more. I think they are entitled to their opinion.

The UK needs more immigrants, such a tiny island. I'm surprised more kids aren't born with extra limbs, or half-mutton.

The problem isn't immigration as much as it's a failure to assimilate.

If you want to go to a new country and live like you did in your home country, GO HOME.

It's an insult to your new home to expect THEM to accommodate your preferences. You chose to live in their country, you learn to live by their ways.

The problem is that (at least in the USA), we've become so "tolerant" that immigrants (legal and otherwise) are not required to assimilate into American culture. Rather they want American culture to assimilate to them.

This dissolves national unity. As a new culture meshes with the existing culture, the best qualities should become part of the national unity, but this happens over time. The idea that the new country must bend over backwards to respect the cultural idioms of the immigrant is utterly wrong.

Hey, wouldn't it be a good idea to have the population density of Hong Kong! Um... no.

Immigration is not a bad thing. Too much immigration and lack of integration, or the bringing of bad cultural and religious baggage and accommodating that crap, is a bad thing.

Coloradoans used to complain about all of the immigrants coming from California. Of course, there is no mechanism for rounding them up and sending them back to California: an American citizen can live pretty much anywhere in the United States. All they could do was complain.

Here is your comment regarding the Amish in another thread:

Ever since the Puritans landed at Plymouth Rock in 1620 the immigrants have been taking over.

I see this sort of reasoning a lot:

Quote:
"Few of their children in the country learn English... The signs in our streets have inscriptions in both languages... In short, unless the stream of their importation could be turned... they will soon so outnumber us, that all the advantages we have, will not in my opinion be able to preserve our language, and even our government will become precarious."

Quote from Benjamin Franklin, writing in 1753 in opposition to the immigration of Germans into Pennsylvania.

The difference between yesterday's and today's immigrants is welfare. The incoming now have many ways to access the public dole.

One of the major "screwings" the American public gets is also the destruction of our health system. This is broadly pointed out by the statistics that show latinos are refusing to sign up for the new Affordable Care Act health system. These people are accustomed to obtaining free medical assistance in a hospital emergency room. Their attitude is: If I can get free health service I can send any free money back to mexico and bring in the rest of my family. This attitude is what has already shut down many emergency departments in various hospitals and closed some clinics entirely.

Forgetting for a moment the laws broken by these people they have also learned to take advantage of individual companies as well. One way is to buy goods such as household furniture and then move and buy another identity on the readily available black market.

It isn't as though every single Mexican immigrant doesn't know these things. They know them very well......and teach these methods to others.....how to avoid the police.....how to hide assets......how to criminally access the public systems.........etc. etc. etc.

AND THEY TEACH THEIR CHILDREN ALL THESE TRICKS (and more) AS WELL, by allowing them to grow up in the midst of crime....which leads their poor innocent children directly into a criminal life of crime.......not unlike the poverty stricken black communities for the last 150 years. This creates a permanent underclass the law enforcement community depends on for jobs in street enforcement and, ESPECIALLY, prisons.

Without CONTROLLED immigration you get all of the above plus sexual slavery, etc., etc. With controlled immigration you alleviate the bulk of the above.

To a simple Mexican immigrant none of the above matters; he/she can only see the greener grass, but with the above knowledge in hand we should, out of purely humanitarian reasons, immediately stop ALL illegal immigration.......speed up what we have......and give these poor people a break.

Around where I live, immigrants are some of the hardest working people you'll meet. My area is also full of native born white trash people that choose to do meth instead of work and leech off the system in the process. So if the immigrants are taking over, its because they are working hard and earning it. It's not the immigrants living off the system around where I live.
