How many Slavs are in the world

I am a Pole, and the Poles belong to a wider group of ethnic Slavs. (Polish, Russians, Ukrainians, Czech, Bulgarian etc.)

I wonder how many Slavic are in the world, I wrote a question "How many Slavs in the world" to WolframAlpha but did not receive response

Just google "languages: population of speakers". You should be able to find a list for the number of speakers of major languages. Then take an adding machine and total up the numbers of speaker of each slavic language. That would give you a ball park number for the "total number of Slavs in the World". Ofcourse it wouldnt include Polish Americans, and Czech Canadians, and so forth. But you could find stats on Americans census figures about that as well. Depends ofcourse on how you define a "Slav".

Way back in 1969, when I was 14, and actually added up populations of countries to find out how many eastern europeans there were (about 120 million), and the soviet unions population was 240 million at the time (about half of which were ethnic Slavs). So in 1969 the ballpark number of Slavs in the world was about 240 million.

Can't believe I actually did that either.

So why do you want to know?

Just out of pure curiosity.

Recently I read an interesting article about how much we Poles feel our common Slavic identity, because in Poland there are frequent Jokes about Russians, Ukrainians, Czechs, and yet they are Slavs, as like Poles.

Wikipedia says 350 million.
