Is this a trick question?

There is often a high tradition and a low tradition. Nothing you can do about it.

Maybe they're only off by a few hundred million years?

I don't think they are wilfully ignorant; they are just set solid in their world view and nothing and nobody is going to change that, even when they are presented with facts that contradict their dogmatic assertions. They find it easier to deny the truth than to turn their belief system upside down and face the internal pain and turmoil of re-evaluating often what are deeply held beliefs. Those beliefs may be critically important to their coping mechanisms in life or have helped them through tough times. There is at least one member who posts in this forum that I'd apply this analysis/description to. Nobody will ever change his belief systems, numerous people have pointed out his repeated misconceptions and errors about science but he carries on repeating the same errors and misconceptions regardless and he would likely defend them until his dying breath rather than acknowledge to himself that he's got it wrong.

There's no link whatsoever between the Bible and the kind of geography you find in California or anywhere else. If California has a quake, it won't be because of anything that's in the Bible. It will be due to forces inside the earth, pressure, and gravity, perhaps? Things do not happen because of what's in the Bible. Half the people who read the Bible shouldn't be. Their minds are in no condition to understand it.

The Bible doesn't even mention California, or anything beyond Africa, Europe, and Asia. Therefore, California doesn't exist! Problem solved.

On Youtube you get to see what's on people's minds and what they obsess on in their spare time. This woman apparently is very obsessed with the Apocalypse. It's morbid.

Well, I have done psychedelics in my time, and so I can sympathize with these type of people. I do believe that some of them are mentally ill, some of them are creative geniuses, some of them are crackpots, and some of them are psychopaths who want to rule the world. It's difficult to sort out who is who.

Yeah, when I see videos like this I always try to imagine what kind of a state of mind would I have to be in to create such a video? It's difficult to understand but I think it is a question worth asking.

People raised in a religious family with strong beliefs may have strong religious beliefs.
People raised to believe lack of religion, or presence of an incorrect religion is an insult to their god will sometimes kill people who don't agree with them.

If someone wants to demonstrate their belief on TV it doesn't, nor should it, bother me; I can just change the channel. They have a right to any belief they wish, and this should be celebrated, as long as it harms no one. Besides, no one yet has proven the non-existence of God, so how can I say they are totally wrong? In our technical world we think we know the answers to many things, but we've only just begun to learn....we're still stupid monkeys, but monkeys that have learned to be judgmental.

Remind you of any religious fanatics you know????

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delusional_disorder

The following can indicate a delusion:

The patient expresses an idea or belief with unusual persistence or force.
That idea appears to exert an undue influence on the patient's life, and the way of life is often altered to an inexplicable extent.
Despite his/her profound conviction, there is often a quality of secretiveness or suspicion when the patient is questioned about it.
The individual tends to be humorless and oversensitive, especially about the belief.
There is a quality of centrality: no matter how unlikely it is that these strange things are happening to him, the patient accepts them relatively unquestioningly.
An attempt to contradict the belief is likely to arouse an inappropriately strong emotional reaction, often with irritability and hostility.
The belief is, at the least, unlikely, and out of keeping with the patient's social, cultural and religious background.
The patient is emotionally over-invested in the idea and it overwhelms other elements of their psyche.
The delusion, if acted out, often leads to behaviors which are abnormal and/or out of character, although perhaps understandable in the light of the delusional beliefs.
Individuals who know the patient observe that the belief and behavior are uncharacteristic and alien.

The following features are found:

It is a stable disorder characterized by the presence of delusions to which the patient clings with extraordinary tenacity.
The illness is chronic and frequently lifelong.
The delusions are logically constructed and internally consistent.(from their perspective)
The delusions do not interfere with general logical reasoning (although within the delusional system the logic is perverted) and there is usually no general disturbance of behavior. If disturbed behavior does occur, it is directly related to the delusional beliefs.
The individual experiences a heightened sense of self-reference. Events which, to others, are nonsignificant are of enormous significance to him or her, and the atmosphere surrounding the delusions is highly charged.

Bible thumpers may be willfully ignorant on some issues but so are some of the ones that criticize them the loudest and at every turn. Willful ignorance is not exclusively the vice of any one demographic.
