Do you agree or disagree?

I totally disagree. If we didn't drink in moderation, eat in moderation, pick our battles with some moderation, etc. we'd all be complete douches.

No we wouldn't. If we didn't drink in moderation that doesn't necessarily mean we'd be drinking. It means we'd either be binging or abstaining completely.

So bingers aren't douches? And straight edge people can't be douchy too?

Disagree

Though in politics it's unfortunate; that a lot of people are fooled into believing everything is "better" in moderation. It's like a way to narrow the range of view points considered legitimate. I think some things would be better off eliminated.

I agree with this. You can't hold everything hostage to any single dichotomy like this. Some things are good to moderate, others aren't. Is it a bad thing to moderate war? Is it a good thing for fascist governments to moderate public opinion?

Where's the option to 'somewhat' agree/disagree? :)

Voted 'disagree'. There are lots of things that are worth doing in moderation. Some good examples were given upthread. Lukecash's example of drinking alcohol fits. In moderation, it has health benefits and therefore is worth doing in moderation (unless a person is a recovering alcoholic in which case abstention is best). Consumption of food certainly needs to be done in moderation. Starvation versus eating yourself to death is an absurd choice.

Other things do not require moderation. I love my family with no moderation- a pretty common feeling. As Rushking also noted, promoting the idea that only moderate political viewpoints are legitimate is a way of eliminating a wide range of ideas. I am centrist and moderate myself but do not think that therefore everybody else should be too.

Depends what the thing is.

Harvesting kopi luwak coffee beans. I'd like to do none to minimal of that.

I think I prefer drinking in moderation to those.

Now that I think about it, I tend to do everything in moderation, except for being sarcastic and cynical. That handle broke off at "full speed ahead" a long time ago.

"Moderation is a fatal thing. Nothing succeeds like excess."
— Oscar Wilde

I hope the above are true . . . I suck at moderation.

Depends. Nascar works a lot better in excess. Building a nation works better over time.
