Can it be done?

I started a new campaign. Love Westboro. Let's bring 'em in from the cold!

I'll never be that good a person.
I want to throw a brick through their window and run.

Well it's not Christian to cast them aside. These are the ones Christ would reach out to. People who seem to be troubled and hurting so they cause others trouble and pain. So Jesus would want to heal their hearts. This is my inspiration and I have already reached out and I encourage anyone else who is so inclined to do so also, out of a loving place without accusations and hatred which just fuels their fire.

Westboro is caught in a symbolic whirlwind only they don't realize it. Their whirlwind is symbolic and they constantly are in the midst of it.

Nope, it is impossible for me to have anything but disgust for such hateful bigots...from what I understand they are pretty intent on their trolling and harassment and there's no real reasoning with them. From what I hear people have tried but they just don't want to hear it or will just spew more bigotry.

They might appear to be real world trolls but I think they are religious fanatics who will engage in dialogue about the Bible. It's not just about money and trolling to them. They will listen and talk they take the Bible very seriously it's just no one dialogues in a meaningful way. They just criticize them and that just feeds into their state of mind and they become more obstinate.
I pointed out 1 Corinthians 13 and there's Matthew 5:9 too.
I find it helps responding with actual Bible verses they will pay attention to those, not just emotional responses about how they are haters and that's not in the Bible because everything they do they feel justified because they see themselves being instructed by Bible verses.

Has anyone ever picketed their hive?

Picketing is not a good idea. Reaching out via social media is a better option. People who know their Bible well should discourse with Westboro and encourage them to preach with love in their hearts because they are never going to stop preaching. They see themselves as preachers who will not be silenced that's why I reach out with what's already in the Bible instead of platitudes.
When I read 1 Corinthians 13 it's like Paul saw this in Christians back then, same thing, and they were alienating others. That's why Paul wrote that letter. That's why you see messages about peacemakers. That's why Westboro needs to read the message and they will pay attention to what's in the Bible because they see it as the only truth.
The picketing thing is like God's symbolic whirlwind that Westboro always places themselves in the midst of. At least this is how it appears.
Westboro does have the right to preach, they are protected by the US constitution but I pointed out to them their picketing isn't really preaching so I would avoid getting involved in their picketing cycle.
What they do now is go to a town, act in ways without love and kindness like what Paul wrote about in 1 Corinthians, and then when people react they compare themselves to early Christians who were ran out of towns by people who refused to hear their message so you see, picketing would be counter productive.
What Westboro needs to see is they are not really preaching and that is why they are stuck in this cycle which they don't seem particularly happy with. They complain about being run out of town and they were getting death threats too which upset them. I did point the cycle out though.

Picketing the nest would be more fun.

If Christ himself walked up to the door of the WBC they would toss him out for being an outside agitator, and would have him arrested for tresspass, and they would find some way to sue him as well.

But thats a great thought- reaching out to them that way.

But could I do it? Love the WBC crowd?

I don't think they are that unreasonable when approached in a rational, kind way online. They are just stuck in this opposition. They stir, they get an extreme reaction to their extreme stirring. This leaves them paranoid, and with a persecution complex. They do it as a method of preaching but their delivery only alienates others and causes them to be persecuted. I find they can be reasonable. They just need to be able to connect more. What they really want to do is connect with this town I live in on a meaningful level. It's so obvious by how obsessed they are.
Of course they are going to always be against what the Bible says to oppose. It's their methods that frustrate others and themselves.
So if you approach them in a non threatening way, they do no react irrationally and accuse you of trespassing and whatnot but they do have a heightened sense of vigilance due to the circumstances they create.
What you have to remember about Westboro is it is first and foremost a church and they want to discuss what's in the Bible.

You better be careful if you have dealings with them,you may come home and find a pod in your bedroom,the next day,you will be one with them.

It' s near 7 in the morning central time and Westboro Baptist Church is up bright and early scouring news stories to find pickets and tragedies to thank God for. Someone get up early in the morning, stumble out of bed with their only motivation to salivate over tragedies appearing in early morning news vainly hoping a new one will come up. Vanity a sin Westboro accuses others of on a regular basis. Yep they are often vain, boastful and quite proud.
Isn't boasting about tragedy a dimension of pride even if such boasting is thought of as God's will?
