You are kidding of course? She was one of the most repulsive figures in modern Christianity. She was a vicious b***h whose religious fundamentalism allowed her to condemn the dying to a death in pain, said that the greatest destroyer of peace on earth was abortion, whilst advocating a ban on contraception, withheld basic medical procedures, whilst her charity was awash with money, (and yet flew to the US for presidential style care, when she, was sick and dying), gloried in the suffering of others, because she believed pain and suffering would bring the person closer to Jesus, I can only presume when she was suffering, she felt that she was close enough to Jesus, and therefore deserved of best palliative care money could provide.

I suggest you at least watch this

Or better still read "Missionary Position"

If Hitchens is to radical for you how about the Daily Mail

All true, but still not the general overwhelming perception of her life. To say she was not what she seemed is fine but being outright disrespectful of her life is not accomplishing anything.

Any believer who denies ever having doubts is a liar.

But I am outright disrespectful of most of what she stood for. As to the overwhelming perception of her life, I am also very disrespectful of sheeple who do not bother to check the voracity of the populist pap they are fed by the media and state. Ok maybe I should not describe her as a vicious b***h, but how else, other than vicious, would you describe restricting palliative pain relief to paracetamol and aspirin?

From what I've seen of those "houses of the dying", it would be more merciful to just shoot those people. But I doubt that would go over well with the "saint" image. Of course the catholic church is against euthenasia too. So you can't die, but you won't live, and you WILL suffer.
There is a Penn&Teller BS episode partly about "mother" Teresa too, called Holier Than Thou. They also interview Christopher Hitchens for that one. In that episode they also take shots at Gandi and the Dalai Lama.

It's not uncommon for religious workers to have doubts and even to lose their faith entirely. The problem is that they exist in a kind of alternative economy that makes it difficult for them to walk away and do something else. They also risk losing their friends, family and other contacts.

I thought Mother Teresa's Secret was some type of new Victoria Secrets line.

Faith healing is a horrible, horrible sham. Anyone who practices or believes in it receives my disapproval.

This misguided belief claimed the life of James Hetfield's mother... I wouldn't want it to happen to anyone else.

You have to take into account the country this all occurred in. Possibly the most densely populated, most poverty stricken countries in the world. I am no great fan of Mother Teresa and am aware of her true history but I know that had she not been there it could have been one hell of a lot worse for those people.

Personally, I think those frauds are a menace when they tell people they've cured them of cancer, or that they can throw away their insulin now. They ought to be convicted of fraud, and sent to prison.

As a Catholic, I never heard ANYTHING of what MT did that was negative UNTIL long after she was gone.

I can't believe she was made a saint. Her practices in "caring for the sick and dying" are about a step above medicine practiced in the dark ages.
