Tea Party Candidate Says It's OK To Stone Gays To Death

I'd say the fact that he's running makes him relevant. It's pretty normal for the media here to write articles about the people running for office, and the platform they are running with, so that people will be informed when they vote. Which isn't to say he would win (at least I would sure hope he wouldn't win), although it seems like sometimes they do. As for LaRouche, I don't even know who that is (I'm actually Canadian), but after looking him up, I"m not sure I'd compare him to this guy advocating for killing gays. lol

LaRouche leads a movement that has been trolling Democratic primaries for decades now, one thing he use to advocate was putting AIDS patients in concentration camps which he actually was able to get on the ballot a couple times in California in the 80s.
My point tho is, just running for office doesn't make you relevant. There is a pretty perverse media narrative here when somebody from Canada is reading about some guy running for a state House seat that will probably end up with like 20 votes.
Not to mention giving him even more undeserved attention, which he would never have gotten if promoting him to poster boy didn't serve certain agendas.

Believe me he would have won office and probably will despite this. Folks around here is dumsies.

Interesting. lol I didn't read too far into LaRouche when i looked him up briefly. I only saw the article in my news feed on Facebook, but it's Huff Post so it's not as though a ton of Americans aren't reading the same article. I thought I was only following the Canadian version, but apparently not.
I could actually name many people that I know here, personally, who spend more time following American politics than they do our own. It's something that has always bothered me immensely, when people know way more about Obama than they do our own Prime Minister. I live on the Ontario/Michigan border though, so people around here have grown up often having more exposure to American media than our own.

I can't really say what people around you are like lol, but if he were to win, I'm sure it wouldn't be the first time someone from the Tea Party--or just anyone with extreme views--has won.
We have them up here as well unfortunately, although they seem to be far fewer in numbers here, and if any of them have views this extreme, they don't often make them public.

Huff Post is definitely narrative driven. A good portion of Americans probably don't even know their representative in the US congress and the vast majority of them probably have no idea at all who their representative is in the lower house of their state legislature so a story about some random guy running in the party primary for a state house seat is pretty far down in terms of relevancy.
People are generally the same here. We just had a provincial election on Thursday, and it's pretty damn hard trying to get people to care about what's going on in their own neck of the woods and about voting these days. I think we had 51% voter turn out this time around, which is actually surprisingly high for Ontario. I think the last election only saw about 47% turnout.

He sounds like he has a pretty low IQ judging by what he posts on Facebook and if someone can read that, then decide they want to elect that to a public office all I can do is smh in pity because it's sad there's so many non thinking among us. It would be a sad statement about this area, since he is from the town I live in.
Even if he does get elected, and I'm not saying that he will, it will be to the Oklahoma STATE house of representatives, not the US house of representatives. His votes and actions will only influence Oklahoma and I'm just guessing Oklahoma isn't particularly gay friendly in the first place. If he's lucky enough to get elected to the Oklahoma house of representatives I can't see him ever being elected to any office in DC.
"Oh, but Raptor; it's just so chilling that someone would actually say what he did or even think it!!"
Someone in your own home town has most likely (more like absolutely has in so many words) said what he said, just not so publicly. This is 2014 and gay is in, like it or not, so it doesn't really matter what anyone says anymore. The train has already left the station......

He doesn't belong in ANY house of Representatives. Do you honestly think a guy like this belongs in government? He is not a team player by any stretch of the imagination and there needs to be compromise and understanding in government, what is lacking right now. There's already too many that sit by themselves like soiled infants and cry, refusing to do much of anything, just collecting that pay check every month. They put all kinds of meaningless crap through the statehouse here. The governor just vetoed a whole boatload of it because she is sick of it too. Just waste of time and money and it's of no use to anyone. Just pointless ego stroking and inflating for a handful of dumb rednecks with IQs of potato sacks.

Where did I say that he DID belong in any house of representatives? Show me. I said IF he gets elected what his sphere of influence would be limited to, and that he'd be very unlikely to hold a seat anywhere that would give him a vote on anything on a national level.
