What's good for the goose is good for the gander!
Then there's the undeniable reason why blacks would support Cochran. For one thing, it's Mississippi - it's unlikely a Democrat would beat either Cochran or McDaniel in the general election. Well, being that McDaniel called federal money for black schools reparations for slavery, and had blatantly and openly courted Neo-Confederates and racists (like there's a difference), it's only common sense that blacks would move heaven and earth to keep this inbred from getting elected.
And on top of that, Cochran was only doing what the national Republican leadership had suggested since losing a second time to Obama - that is, reach out to racial minorities and others who have been traditionally shunned by the GOP. You'd think he'd be getting better press from his fellow Republicans by seeking a more inclusive party. Guess most of them aren't interested in making their party a "real" big tent.
