What's so special about iron, anyways? Why can't "God" handle an army equipped with iron chariots?

Granting the rest of the mythological BS, all Satan has to do at Armageddon is send a single Bradley against "God's" armies. Does ceramic composite armor keep out "God's" wrath? Or do anti-rapture helmets have to be strictly iron alloys?

If God can't break iron, then why didn't he just attack the horses pulling the chariots instead? Weak and dumb apparently.

Whilst this is very funny, I think you're misinterpreting the line. "The Lord was with Judah" probably means something like "Judah were the good guys".

Iron was absolutely the "cutting edge" during Biblical times.

Of course "God" sided with Judah--it was the kingdom of the "chosen people," after all.

God went with the prime directive

The "he" probably refers to Judah. So yeah, if Judah attacks you make sure you have chariots of iron. Not steel or polymer, just iron.

Maybe the other guys had "God" with them, too. You know how common it is for both teams in a sporting event (American football in particular comes to mind) to pray before a game? Only one team can be the actual victor. I wonder how "God" chooses in that scenario...

Everyone here is forgetting an important point. Since Judges was written, God has gone into training and has come up with a new arsenal. He is now capable of beating iron chariots.
Quote:
But the mountain shall be thine; for it is a wood, and thou shalt cut it down: and the outgoings of it shall be thine: for thou shalt drive out the Canaanites, though they have iron chariots, and though they be strong.. (Joshua 17: 17-18)

Your going to have to scour the periodic table of elements and pick another element to fight him. May I suggest Tungsten.

Oops Joshua is before Judges in the OT. So I guess God used to be able to beat iron, but then got weaker and he couldn't.

Carry on.

Assuming you copied it verbatim, the "he" is lower cased in which case it would refer to Judah and not God.

I'm very well aware of that. But "God" was "with Judah", and that apparently wasn't enough. Did "God" fail? Did Judah (which then raises the question of "God's" judgement in picking a champion to empower)? Why wasn't "God's" blessing/presence enough to win against a few few people with rolling carts? This, by the way, is JUST AFTER Judah's army went on a curb-stomp massacre (with "God's" help) of Jerusalem and the surrounding lands, killing well over ten thousand Canaanites in one town alone. "God" is pretty terrible at keeping buffs up on his party's tanks.

EDIT: And hell, it was in a freakin' valley. Magic Space Wizard or no, they should have had every advantage against a war device that requires long stretches of open land in order to build momentum and retain mobility. The Romans knew well enough how to nullify a chariot. Maybe that's why they ended up taking Jerusalem in turn from "God's" Chosen.
