I remember when they made the rule you had to be 18 to smoke in America a few years ago. It's stupid though, if kids want to cough, stink, and die, let 'em. They've heard the anti-smoking propaganda since they were in the womb. They know it isn't good for them.

I say keep it at 18. Regardless of age, they'll all get lung cancer and emphysema in the end.

And the US would waste no more money on the "War On Drugs". It's a prohibition remake, eventually they'll legalize drugs.

law didn't stop me from smoking young either...i just chose not to and didn't start till i was 19.

But it may stop SOME, and that's what counts.

At least that's an extra 3 years exposure to all the anti smoking ads they have going around.

In Australia we have 13 year old smokers, and 14 year old Chain Smokers.

-our legal age is 18 --if the 14 year old seems to be able to go the local MilkBar (Mini Convenince store) and get them, then what's the piont.

Yup I'm a smoker - even though I wish I wasn't , I ain't going to impose my rules upon anyone else.

i would like to close the cigarette industry, reduce the production of alcohol and death penalty for drug traffickers lets see how u like it...
education its better than censorship, good parents raise good kids(about most of the times).
and age level does not stop a person from doing something, when u want it u get it.

i say 18,but those adults who sell to them get serious convictions and if you try to buy being underage the owner of the store has to give you a 3 feet off the ground wedgy, maybe?.

peace

1. The death penalty is a primtive ineffetive form of punishment.

2. Your solution just makes things worse.

the drugdealer has spred the drug among the people,to hurt them and make them stupid, and he knows this,so u want to go on and do it well try it,u know the consequences also,so give it a try,the next guy is going to think twice before doing what dead guy did...get a job and work like a nice person.
it doesnt make it worst,it takes care of problems,it is not primitive, its a solution quicker and cheaper than the actual policy.
the actual procedures on drug selling makes it worst,it creates gangs and competition, arrests, innocent lives, more drug use which have an impact in other things resulting a bigger problem.

Drugs do those things because they are illegal.

Just look at the 1920's in America. Crime spiked and entire criminal syndicates specialized transporting and producing alcohol. After prohibition ended alcohol syndicates collapsed.

The same thing would happen if drugs were legalized - the drug lords would fall to organized corporations.

thats crap. 18 is already too high of an age, 21 even higher.
if a 16 year old wants to smoke, he will smoke. if he has to find an 18 year old he knows to buy it for him, he will. if he has to ask a crack head stranger on the street to go in and buy it for him, he will.
I started smoking regularly at the age of 16 Myself, and way back then nobody carded Me in My high school age years.

I'd go further: If you are old enough to suffer....

Let's put the age down to 12.
