I recently finished Christopher Hitchens autobiography, so I thought I would start a thread about him.

There is a telling detail in Hitch 22 that you might not be aware of. When he was in college, his mother joined a cult, entered into a suicide pact with a man and committed suicide. Hitch always felt guilty that he wasn't there to prevent it. In light of these events a lot of his more well known stances now seem inevitable.

Given the issues that defined him, I expect he could have been able to make out what is happening in the world today with some clarity.

Your thoughts?
