So what if aliens invaded? Would all of Earth be forced to work together? Think of it like this. Brothers may quarrel but when an outside intruder invades, they are forced to work together. It could be like this when aliens invade. Christians, Muslims, and North Koreans working together to keep the human race alive.

An alien invasion could be the only way where all of the world comes together to kick some alien arse. Or be destroyed in the process. World War 3 may not be fought against each other, it could be fought against aliens invading Earth. Probably not but you never know...

Reagan often thought about this too

It is an interesting thought, banding together with your fellow man. I remember the feeling after 9/11 a lot of us Americans had, maybe I was just young and didn't know any better but it was the only time I ever really truly felt a sense of community and togetherness. It's sad to see how fractured and tense this country has become, perhaps it was always that way I didn't know but at 10 years old it was profound experience for me.

There would have to be aliens for that to happen. Close enough and interested enough to do that. What if we found a populated planet, would we invade it?

Only if the aliens are communists.

If they have the technology to make interstellar journey to reach the earth, then we have zero chance against them. Laser will destroy the nasty nukes send against them and graphene will protect their troops from bullets; and that's only with the technologies and science we know about, they may have some really nasty surprise for us. As for the reason aliens would invad our planet, one of the only thing that would make sense is that we could represent a future treat to them. Which mean they wouldn't even bother to get on the ground and may simply bombard us with big asteroids and watch the firework as we are powerless and our civilisation, biosphere and species collapse.

Lets just hope if we meet aliens, they're either nice or could care less about us. If aliens come to Earth wanting to annihilate all of humanity, we're all screwed. Hey at least we'll go down united together.

We would be invaded. Simple as that. There would be no counter measures. If a species is intelligent and hi-tech enough to reach us, they're intelligent and hi-tech enough to globally conquer us within milliseconds. They wouldn't even have to leave their home system. They could just send innumerable number of robotic drones to do all the work for them.

Current scientists suggest that they would only come for one reason - resources, probably water. And they would send drones because sending astronauts is too costly in payload requirements. And unless they can work with wormholes, they probably wouldn't come at all.

Not if their biochemistry and physiology is radically different and they have no idea how to kill us. Unlikely, admittedly...

Water!? While there is moons made of ICE!? Don't be ridiculous, water is abundant in the Universe and there is no need to conquer inhabited planets to have plenty of it.

No, what they would come for is oxygen. Specifically, free oxygen, on a world that produces and retains it naturally. If habitable planets are rare, then it might be worth an invasion to kill off the pesky natives. Of course, you wouldn't want to use a relativistic kill missile to do it, or orbital bombardment, though the latter would be useful to take out the major settlements before sending in crews to hunt down the rest. Even easier would be a bioweapon, but that might still leave a few million to dispose of who are immune, and you run the risk of having things like out of control fires and nuclear reactors mess the environment up for a while.

The lesson - we need several battlestars to be built in orbit.

W would finally understand what indigenous peoples have suffered through at the hands of western imperialist powers, whether it's a matter of military resistance being wiped out, being economically exploited, or dying off from "infected blankets." We'll be someone else' third world to be colonized. Sadly enough, what cooperation between earthling tribes might take place could possibly have short lived military successes, but otherwise most of us humans will still be too dumb to forget their petty hatreds and band together for a common good.

The aliens have been feeding this hatred for a long time.
Soon they will reap their reward. :alien: :alien: :cyclops: :smurf: :help:
