Virgina tops nation in sending kids to cops

Surprising, because I was in Virginia in the early to mid-90s where I was placed in a special ed classroom. I only remember the cops being called once, while I was in intermediate school, to take away a kid that had repeatedly shown himself to be dangerous. I was not exactly well-behaved myself, but the police were never called on me, even where things escalated to the point teachers had to take me to the ground.

I'm happy to see that my own Washington state ranks at 39 for calling the cops on kids in school. Still, it could be better - better as in less likely to call the police.

I see that the very red state I live in rarely sends kids to the cops, especially compared to some of those other states.

I'm worried about my state... Sending kids to the cops is almost always a method for getting those who don't fit in out of the way of society. It is the criminalization of individual difference in children.
