I'm muslim, and the evidence seems to be pointing in that direction, there's a quote of Prophet Muhsmmad: There will come a time when people in my community will seek to make lawful, the wearing of silk by men, the drinking of alcohol, fornication, and the playing of musical instruments..... Allah will cause the Earth beneath them to collapse and he will transform the rest into apes ans swine. Also, some interpretations of a verse in chapter 31 that refer to " idle talks " says that it is referring to singing. The founders of the four sunni demoninations all agreed that music, with the exception of man singing nasheed and the beating of the duff drum, is forbidden.. thoughts?

This is not the 7th century, fortunately.

I don't think most Muslims interpret the Koran that literally.

There's always been a strong musical presence in the Muslim world.
