Is internet porn ruining our next generation? Is censorship
Is internet porn ruining our next generation? Is censorship the answer?
These scholars and experts are at the forefront of this research. Apologies but you will have to listen to at least one of these clips to get what this O.P. is all about.

Is it possible that in sexual matters, the right wing conservatives might be ahead of the left wing in their thinking?
If not, then what should the left do to help us save our children from the indoctrination via internet porn into unhealthy and unwanted sexual habits? Or have them not be able to perform without porn?
I consider myself left wing but I think we may be going a tad far and should move to the right on this issue due to things like you saw in the clips above as well as what is shown in this clip below.

At one time, parents would have closed any shop that gave access to the young to porn. Yet today, parents do not seem to care and as more and more young children get cell phones, parental prohibition will be impossible.
Have parents forgotten how to parent and are men and women willing to allow the status quo to ruin the sexuality of the next generation?
"Censorship reflects society's lack of confidence in itself. It is a hallmark of an authoritarian regime." - Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart
To date, I have lived by the above quote. I do not lack confidence in our adult population but see this issue as more of a medical one and I am willing to censure for our children's sake.
Some Eastern countries have used censorship to gain control of what their children can access. Should the West do the same?
Are our children worth it?

Thanks for this.
Shame keeps everyone quiet including parents.

I don't believe in censorship and think it would be virtually impossible. My main problem with internet porn is the large proportion that promotes violent sex but you seem to have a number of issues. It's a bit hard to take seriously when you post TED talks together with a sarcastic/comedic conspiracy video in the same post.
I know some intelligent young people, children of intelligent parents, who are mostly left wing. They have obviously been exposed to internet porn and have grown up to think independently with healthy attitudes towards sex. I would say most problems are with parent-child relationships and not for state interference.
I'm old enough that my early experience with porn was with magazines instead of a computer. All of your videos are saying "We're not talking about Playboy or Penthouse or Hustler, just hardcore internet porn." And I'm not disputing in the slightest that there's lightyears difference between those old dirty magazines and the degrading hardcore filth that's just a few mouse clicks away. Yet the arguments against hardcore internet porn are in fact the same arguments that were made against those magazines back in the day. I got the "That's completely unrealistic and degrading, looking at it will warp your mind" lectures over pictures which were way, way softer than pictures my wife and I have thoroughly enjoyed making together for our own enjoyment.
And I'll tell you something else, those lectures didn't have the intended effect, they only made porn a forbidden fruit and thus all the more enticing. So IMO censorship is a horrible idea. Instead we should be doing the following:
(1) Teaching kids about healthy sexuality before they're curious enough to start Googling for porn. Seems to me that a preteen boy who knows it's totally normal and not-at-all-shameful for him to want to look at boobs is going to be a lot more difficult to convince that rectal prolapses are sexy than a preteen boy who believes that just wanting to look at boobs already means he's going to hell.
(2) Acknowledging the difference between (for lack of better words) "good and healthy" porn vs. "sick and evil" porn, and encouraging the production and consumption of the former. Porn depicting enthusiastic consent, instead of degrading porn. People who freely choose to share pictures of themselves, instead of "revenge porn."

Are our children worth it you ask? Well that supposes we already see things your way, so its a bit of a loaded question. Anyway, bollux to the adorable little lovelies, who cares if the children are worth it. Thats a cheap kinda route playing on sentimental attachment. Is pornography and the lack of censorship degrading the quality of life for everyone would be a question that is clearer.

I stated why I gave that last video.
If you cannot take what I gave serious then perhaps one of these 110 reports might change your mind.

I to know many who have lived with what the net gives without harm.
That would not matter to the vast numbers that have been effected negatively.

It is not so much the porn as the addictive ability of the variety of it as that variety causes the addiction.

Rather hard to pose a harm question when ignoring the children who are experiencing the bulk of the harm.
What is the answer to your question?

I did watch that video. He's conflating a self-selecting sample with a control group. I take such ridiculous methodology about as seriously as I take claims that the earth is flat.

The only connection you make in the OP that I can see is this one:
Which does not really explain the connection between the talks and the farcical video for me.
I have no doubt that many are affected negatively but poor parenting is often the key, as with many other issues including anti-social behaviour and bullying. Maybe it's not such a bad idea that these individuals don't reproduce, although there is always IVF to fall back on.

Children just grow into adults, they are not some rarefied wonder. But think of the children! Its just a kinda lame way to address a society issue. Emotional pleas i think are a bad way to frame a question. As for the question, i don't feel moved to give it thought. I don't much care for censorship in general though.

I'm sure you could find plenty of members of Alcoholics Anonymous who want to bring back prohibition, too. Pointing out that they're extremely biased and the furthest thing possible from a control group isn't the same thing as ignoring them.

I don't think censorship would work, but I think we should educate youth about what's reality in sex and what isnt, as well as educate them as to the dangers of pornography.... I'm Muslim, so my parents were against pornography, but that didn't stop me from watching it... in fact, I think it made it worse, because their knee-jerk reactions made pornography a forbidden fruit. I think it should not be forbidden with anger, but rather discouraged with education.

First of all, calling transgender people, "tranny" is incredibly offensive; like pornography it's purpose is to dehumanize. So, points marked off for gross inconsistency right off the bat.
Second, you shifted from being anti-pornography (something most people would agree with) to anti-transgender and anti-LGBT. A bit of a slight of hand, there, as if the two were somehow equivalent. But the video itself is so full of far right wing, conservative Christian fueled rhetoric that it bears little resemblance to reality. Case in point: Claiming that "LGBT activists" state that everyone is neuter at birth and later chooses to be male or female. In fact, most who are working toward legal equality accept the findings of neurologists, developmental biologists, endocrinologists and geneticists that humans develop sex-dimorphic sites and attributes in utero, and that those sites include the brain, skeleton, endocrine receptors and others. Furthermore, they don't always get the same signals to develop in the same direction. This is now considered *basic* knowledge of mammalian biology, by the way.
Why the shift to attacking trans people? Also, what "left wing" espouses such views as yours on sex & gender identity?
Pornography is in general and as an industry has long been recognized as misogynist. It also portrays people in general as nothing more than objects. But the solution is to educate our young, not try to scare people and then conflate issues to gain points.
