Hi Guys,

I am new here so please bear with me. This is my first post, so I am very happy to join this forum. A little about me: I was born in Poland, love Synths (Roland!), and am currently studying for a math degree. Anyways, I want to start a topic that really interests me, and that topic is the intersection of mathematics and philosophy.

To what degree to you believe that mathematics plays a role in our lives?

Mathematical principles in nature obviously play a big role in our lives.

And humans using math plays a big role. Thats also kinda obvious.

Firstly, welcome to the forum.

Well, maths is the basis of many sciences, which makes it very important in those fields.

Naturalplastic basically answered the question I think, unless you were looking for something else?

On the other hand Andy Rooney (the old curmudgeon who used to do that one minute essay at the end of the 60 Minutes Show)once said "The square of the hypotenuse never comes up in real life." So a lot of math doesnt seem relevent to those who dont go on to become engineers, or physicists. But there are things like interests rates that do come up in real life (all too much sometimes).
