The right to die is a basic human right and nobody should be forced to stay alive against their will.

Some people are so miserable that their lives can't possibly get any better.

So, there should be a system in place to offer free euthanasia to anybody who truly desires to die.

Of course, one must be of legal age and mentally intact in order to use the service.

Your life is your property and nobody else's.

I agree somewhat....

But I really only desire to have euthanasia available for people with a chronic condition who are in great pain, and who will pass away anyway quite soon.

For a college kid who is depressed.....no.

I wouldn't be here today if there was legalized euthanasia.

Neither would many people who later accomplished great things.

I sincerely do not believe people should be euthanized when they are depressed or suicidal but in good physical health. If they get the treatment they need, they can live better and happier lives.

Also, It sounds like you may be suicidal, and I'm very sorry and concerned. :(

I was until I found a reason to live.

But I will always be an advocate of the right to die, regardless of my emotional state.

Well then that would rule out people wanting to die for psychological reasons, as that would be deemed not mentally intact. I think euthanasia is better than a slow painful death...but more often than not when it mentally feels like 'it can't possibly get any better.' that is false, so I don't think euthanasia should just be passed out like candy to any and everyone without undergoing some kind of evaluation to determine if they qualify.

Yes kind of glad the treatment for that is still basically to try and prevent you killing yourself and decrease the desire to do so...instead of offering/encouraging euthanasia for that.

Nobody should have to pay for someone else's euthanasia.

There doesn't need to be a system in place.
People can jump off something high to kill themselves.

Most sane people don't jump of high buildings, when they have other options. The point about Euthanasia is for people who don't have that option.

Call me cold, but I think it would be a great thing for humanity and the environment. There are millions of people who don't want to be alive. Why force them to live and suffer, and suck up the Earth's resources? At the very least, they should legalize suicide.

I assume that a people killing themselves by the traditional (and free) methods is somehow abhorrent to you, and that you feel the need to un-necessarily involve others in ending lives.

If someone wants to die, they need no other "system" than a rope, a razor, a gun, some pills, or a window ledge - these methods are available to anyone.

Of course, if a person is hopelessly paralyzed, then legally-approved assistance should be available; but if a person is able to take his or her own life, then they need no such assistance.

Something is seriously wrong when you think it's harder to die than to live. Life is so fragile it seems obscene to make a challenge of how to get rid of it. There are predators aplenty that would eagerly take your proteins, fat and carbohydrates so they themselves can live in your stead. Similarly, cross the wrong person and you're gone.
