Then why are there still Africans?

What? Are you asking why humans still live in Africa?

Because only some people left Africa, while the rest stayed behind. That's why we still have Africans.

Before then only some ape species evolved into humans and human-like creatures, while the rest barely evolved at all. That's why we still have apes.

I'm sorry, but this question makes no sense to me. What is the reasoning behind the question?

I could give a big long explanation of anthropology, but I think it's probably just better to understand why you think humans logically should not still be in Africa.

It's been pretty well proven that the Genus Homo has an African origin.

Obviously, the reason why there are Africans is because some members of the Genus Homo decided that they didn't want to leave the continent.

The question is basically pointing out the flaw in people saying that we shouldn't still have apes and monkeys if humans came from them.

Then why did you not post that in the first place?

I get why he posted it. But its a bad example to use for that purpose because folks who deny evolution also deny that we came out of Africa.

A better example would be:

If the U.S.A. was founded by colonist from Great Britain...then why is there still a country of Great Britain?

That ^ question about Britain contains the same amount of logic as "if humans evolved from apes then why are there still apes?".

That amount being zero!

Oh, I get it. I believe in evolution, so the question confused me. I read a lot about biology and anthropology.

I guess my feeling is that people who don't believe in evolution have a right to believe that way, even though I disagree with their opinion. Religion is a very personal thing, and I'm not sure I feel comfortable trying to challenge another's beliefs unless it is going to have a significant negative effect on myself or others.

A better analogy would be, if we came from our parents, why do we still have parents?

If most Americans came from Europeans, why are there still Europeans?

It's a straw man argument. We didn't evolve from any modern ape or monkey species. Modern apes, monkeys, and humans evolved from a common primate ancestor. There's still a lot of quibbling about what exactly that ancestor looked like, but most have settled on something chimp-like with human-like features.

Imagine this as a metaphor. Your Mom and Dad lived in South Africa. They had 10 kids. One moves to Egypt, one to the Ivory Coast, and three move to Israel. Five stayed at home with the folks in South Africa. The fact that some of the kids moved away doesn't erase the fact that your parents and the other kids stayed back home. It also says that the kids are not the same thing as their parents. Each kid has descendants. Some of them move to new locations: Asia, Australia, Europe, even the Americas. The African kids also have descendants, who stay put or move to various parts of Africa. Some may decide to move out of Africa in later generations as well.

How do I know you still exist after the post came from you? (unless you post again... and even then, you might have ceased to exist after that)

I believe, after seeing New York City, many moved back.
