My friend who's been arrested for viloent stuff, suffers from bipolar and they'll taking him. But all I have is aspergers and adhd and I can't join. Wtf

Wasn't it a bipolar guy who snapped and blew up his squad with a grenade few years back. And bipolar people will change and just disappear, so how is it they'd let them in out them in stressful situations where their reaction is unknown even to themselves but not aspies who only problem is lacking socialization.

This person just might know somebody in the Army.

Was he convicted of something violent? If so, especially if it's a felony, he should be ineligible for military service.

They usually don't take people with any sort of psychiatric diagnosis.

He got drunk and tried to kill himself by crashing stolen parents truck going really fast.
Probably because of his bipolar. Went to court for it and all.

Just pisses me off he's allowed to join with bipolar and violent tendicies but I can't because I have a social disorder.

He must really know somebody well in the Army.

I just don't see how the Army would take him.

Even if he wasn't convicted, and got "diversion."

How would knowing someone help unless it was a five star general or chiefs of staff. They'd still have to submit his medical, records unless they faked it.

Ruined my whole day now. I feel so down.
If you even mention aspergers to s recruiter they immediately stop talking to you and ask you to leave. So I guess the military only hates aspies and no other disorders :(

Do you have a documented diagnosis? If not, all you have to do is not tell them.

Truthfully, one can submit medical records, but one could also be told to "look the other way."

I'm on ssi so yeah I have a documented diagnosis, it's also why they'll going take my guns in coming months .

I'm such a failure but only because of the government. I'd be better off if they'd let me join.

Have you actually spoken to a recruiter?

If he has a diagnosis from a psychiatrist he cannot join.
It wouldn't matter who he knew in the service.

Just to clarify things,I have bipolar disorder and I don't behave like that person, most of us don't.
It's a mood disorder, not everyone is violent that has it.

My friend was bi-polar and had aspergers, and he joined the army.

This seems fishy to me, too.

1) Is the military actually taking him? When does he report for Basic training?

2) Has he merely taken the ASVAB and filled out an application? Did he ever even talk to a recruiter?

3) Many people successfully concealed their ASD, BPD, or ADD/ADHD from recruiters. Some (like me) didn't know that they had such a disorder until after they had served honorably.

It may be worth learning the facts.

Yes. Id been working with them to lose weight and had gotten to to where I could but wp then they saw my medical records and the head recruiter was like nope and walked a away. Super embarrassing and sad day for me.
