I have no need of friends (or acceptance, for that matter)... so why unite with anyone?

Seems a bit like an autistic version of the Men Going Their Own Way (MGTOW) movement... If they were serious about going "their own" way, then they wouldn't join a social movement...

Paradoxically, forming this sort of movement promotes friendships.
