This is what happens when an elite strips people of everything they own, including dignity and pride, leaving only crushing debts and utter hopelessness. When people have nothing to lose but their chains, they latch onto the first demagogue who pops up. When Germany went down the same road 100 years ago, it ended with most Germans dead and the landscape filled with bomb craters and shattered ruins of one teeming cities. Today, we have nukes, so what used to be America might wind up as a permanently uninhabitable radioactive landscape of fused glass and blackened, infertile soil. I keep thinking of the Metallica song Blackened.
