“Woe to the generation which calls evil good and good evil” - Isaiah

Your gods are Comfort and Convenience; your sacraments are being told you're right when you're wrong and having it your way. You love things more than people. Even in the churches your religion isn't Christianity but Churchianity, your sacred book isn't the Bible but Popular Psychology. Your pastors love money more than God, you all know Malachi 3:10 from when the offering is being collected, but how many have ever heard Malachi 2:16 preached in congregations of fornicators and divorcees who have thrown away their spouses and remarried other people than those they vowed to never leave and spend their lives with to begin with? You don't care what the Bible actually says, just what you can get it to say for you by selective hearing according to whatever you feel like doing at the moment. A pastor chided a child for wearing muddy shoes “in the house of the Lord”, somehow not realizing that each Christian is a house of the Lord and not any stupid building. An ex-pastor gave his precious little daughter a yeast infection and, when he was caught, he tried to place the blame on any male names that came to his mind including a 7 year old boy who would then forever be terrified of other people's children and hateful toward yuppies who do horrible things to their precious babies and then seek out scapegoats to take their blame, of which Christ said it would be better in Judgment Day for them to have a millstone tied around their neck and be thrown into the sea. You have women which see men not as people but as mere resources to be used and discarded, and evil men who do similarly also. None of your promises mean anything because you are all Humpty Dumpties whose words mean whatever they feel like making them mean whenever they feel like it, nothing more and nothing less. All you overgrown children care about are amassing possessions that you can't take with you once you're dead, the people you use and hurt along the way mean nothing to you. You all deserve to die in fire by the weapons you built in paranoia, but if you've read the Bible you already know the actual endgame. You're all a bunch of hedonistic compulsive liars who need to repent.

You have to get out in the world more.

People like to be happy. I don't think God would mind that.

And you wonder why someone might want to leave you?

Okay, Mister, while you're at it you might also want to tell all these people to repent and atone for their lies:

viewtopic.php?t=171498

Hope you got some spare time... over 800 pages there. I'm sure whatever deity or beard wizard you worship will appreciate all the hard work, though.

And thank god for that! It means we can be more moral than that book which teaches us to do horrible things.

I think that he is addressing folks in his own church. Not us on WP. Thats why its addressed to "Churchians" (as opposed to what he sees as being true "Christians").

But if thats the case then why isnt he...talking to them ? Tell those folks in your congregation. Don't tell us here on WP.

The irony. I don't think telling everyone that they deserve to die is what Jesus/God were aiming for or teaching.

Then what's original sin? What was the flood? What's hell? (which seems worse than death)

Neither hell nor original sin were featured in the old Testament, but there was plenty of vengeance.

I think "God" and "Jesus" have different philosophies. The Jesus movement was a clever way of subverting the status quo IMO. More political than religious.

Sure but the concept of original sin as we understand it was Augustine.
