Dudes I am not comparing trains to existing buses, but what it would be like if the railroad was replaced with a carrage way that only buses are allowed on.
The trains stations would stay the same, and you would buy tickets the same, the buses could even be almost the length of a train. Vertually everything would be transparent to the train user except the trains would be buses.
Converting the existing rail infrastructure to roads would be a massive undertaking. With that sort of money you could improve the current rail system, extending it where necessary, and get a lot more for your investment. Trains provide a fast, reliable, and relatively pleasant way to travel when the system is properly managed. The problem in the UK is that the system is not adequately funded, or properly managed.
