I've recently been watching a lot of videos on YouTube about philosophy, spirituality etc. In particular, I've been listening to a lot of lectures by Alan Watts on Eastern spirituality. I wanted to share this one, which I found to be particularly profound:

my first dim exposure to eastern thinking was when I was clearing out one of my dad's properties when the previous occupants left behind their copy of the hindu holy book "bhagavad gita" - I was a somewhat clueless teenager at the time, I opened it and found it impenetrable. later on, I saw carl sagan on "cosmos" discuss the eastern cosmology, how they thought the universe worked, and was fascinated when he said that in the hindu view, there wasn't just one big bang but an incalculably long [infinite?] series of them, of which we [the human race at present] are just the latest herd to come along and ponder such mysteries.

I like Alan Watt's philosophy.
I listen to one of his talks almost every night.
It's given me great comfort.

I don't think the link you posted is Wattsy, however.

For me, life is self aware of my actions and seeks to anticipate them. I get too high off the ground and life shoots me back down. I'm not destined for even the smallest amount of greatness. For me, the meaning of life is simple: F**k it. I'm done trying to understand something that does not follow what I want out of it. Times are too corrupt for me to continue pursuing any dream. I'm forced to rot at home doing nothing while fearing that if I try to do anything meaningful, it will never last and I'll get knocked back to square negative one where it certainly feels like I belong. Why do I even bother anymore? Therefore the only answer is F**k it.

Wouldn't it be nice if life had just one meaning?

"The Meaning of Life," primarily, is what the individual makes of it, based upon experience and will power.

There is no meaning of life. Life is just a bi-product of planets, which in turn are bi-products of the formation of stars, that themselves are bi-products of the Big Bang.

Any 'meaning of life' is subjective.

Personally I prefer that all meaning of life is subjective to the individual.

Lots of people speak pretty highly of Alan Watts, and I think he had some quite profound insights. For me though Manly P Hall puts more of the analytic spin on things that I can relate to. Good example here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CS9OO0S5w2k
