What TV shows and movies are offensive and why?

Someone mentioned offensiveness in movies on another thread so I thought I'd ask people what shows and movies they find offensive and why.

List away please.

The new Ghostbusters movie. What a train wreck.

I wouldn't say it's offensive, just not good. As a stand-alone movie it's pretty mediocre, but all the controversy surrounding the movie is what's really ridiculous about it.

If you didn't know, it's a remake of the original, but with an all-female cast. You know, because girl power. And once the feminists started seeing the massive dislike bar on the trailer, they immediately started crying sexism, ignoring all the legitimate criticisms about the trailer not being funny and poorly made in general.

Personally I think it goes both ways. I think a lot of people fed up with modern feminism saw it as a naked attempt to take a classic movie and insert their politics into it, and to some extent I think that's true. And of course, many feminists thought it was a bunch of sexists disliking the video, which probably a few of them were. But putting that stuff aside, it doesn't seem to be absolutely awful. Just kind of meh.

Hollywood and TV always produce stinkers every year, but the instances of things that stink because they are offensive is rare these days.

The movie "Birth of Nation" by DW Griffith in 1915 is offensive because it perpetuates racist myths. But since 1915 I am hard put to think of anything I find "offensive".

A few years ago i stumbled upon one moment in one childrens' Saturday mourning cartoon show in which the character that was obviously the buffoon was shown to be an enthusiastic watcher of public television. The cast of characters were a gang of ducks, or something, and the dumb one at one point couldnt wait to sit down in the living room to watch documentaries on public television. Then and now it pissed me off that they were teaching kids that it isnt cool to watch docs on PBS. So that cartoon is the one thing more recent than 1915 that I find offensive.

I'm not sure if anyone would know this film but I find "The Black Balloon " offensive mainly because of what the bus with the kids that have special needs was called, it just made me cringe.

I can't think of any recent ones,most are just incredibly stupid but not offensive.
The most offensive older film I've seen was The Eternal Jew,hands down the worst ever.

On a more serious note... First of all, I haven't actually *seen* The Birth of A Nation, but from the synopsis I think it will be hard to find a movie as offensive, considering its contribution to reviving the KKK... Here are a few others, though...

American Sniper was ethnocentric (and almost racist) propaganda combined with historical revisionism, and glorified an unprovoked act of US military aggression which is responsible for hundreds of thousands of dead people, the vast majority being civilians.

The "positive" portrayal of the two main characters in Natural Born Killers may have contributed to several copycat killings

And anyone who pays to watch a Roman Polanski movie is financially supporting a man who successfully escaped prosecution for raping a 13-year old girl.

It would be interesting to expand the concept to involve literature as well, though...

Avatar and How to Train Your Dragon offends me because of what happened to Beastly Kingdom and because HTTYD is a disgrace to dragons.

Anything such as the feminist Ghostbusters bothers me but doesn't offend me. It's bothersome because it shows Hollywood has ran out of ideas and lacks integrity.

According to SJW's everything is offensive. If it kisses their ass it's still not enough ass kissing to appease the precious snowflakes!! !

Last Tango In Paris

Reason: Many people still speculate that director Bernando Bertollucci was a sex addict who filmed his sexual fantasies for mainstream audiences.

Lolita

Reason: Although I am an enthusiast for the works of Stanley Kubrick, I sometimes wonder WTH was Kubrick thinking when he was filming Lolita.

A Clockwork Orange

Reason: Kubrick assumed that the movie would incite violence, so it makes me wonder why Kubrick filmed
A Clockwork Orange in the first place.

United 93

Reason: This was released five years after 9/11.


Trainspotting

Reason: Glorification of drug use, particularly addictions to heroin and cocaine.

If people want to use offending taste then I want to nominate Flowers in the Attic, St Elmos Fire, and all the slapstick spoof movies along the lines of Airplane, Police Acadamy, and the Scream movies.

And of course Twilight. for those who hate how she completely s**t all over traditional vampire lore, and the silliness of the whole thing and how young teens and preteens got sucked into it, go to YouTube and find "Vampire Club - Twilight Version" by Voltaire. It's a cute song that spoofs the goth subculture by well known goth performer Voltaire. He has a lot of satire songs. Listen to the original one too. Also,those who dislike people pushing religion will love his song "God Hates..."

I do wonder how the SJWs haven't hitched to have Gone With the Wind, book and movie both, banned. I love both the book nd movie because it's a story that can draw you I in and keep you entertained, but it's my opinion. I don't like the idea of slavery and yes she wrote her slave owning characters as nice and with a good relationship with their slaves, but if she didn't then they wouldn't be still as sympathetic as they are, and even back then she wouldn't have been able to convincingly use the characters like she did in the book. But it's got everything that is SJW hell. Racism and slavery, glorification of rich, capitalist society families, eating meat (Wilks BBQ near the beginning), sexism and helpless seeming females who are somewhat he'd down by the oppression they didn't know was oppression, a man who kisses a woman he's just met decisively and without asking her if he can, war, a caring female who doesn't end up getting the life she wants because she deserves it (Melaine, who btw I dislike as a Mary Sue), riding horses without their permission and thinking of them like objects, black people speaking like parody vaudeville characters, female vanity and primping, flirting, corsets, and pretty dresses.

It does have a very few things that the sjw's like though. The sex worker with the heart of gold who is shows as a good person, natural childbirth (Although I'm for that too, did three home births and one hospital), the Burning of Atlanta, Sherman, rich white society people getting killed, Mammy bullying Scarlett, (I loved that aspect too of the story, she's shown to be like her grandmother and yes I know that's not how it was), and Scarlett seeming to lose in the end. Also, animal rights activists may appreciate Bonnie Blue getting her comeuppance for daring to treat that horse like it's not a living, breathing human being too.

But for real I don't see why they haven't raised hell about it. It's still shows at theaters. I'm glad they don't though.

I also don't see transporting as glorifying drug use so much as telling a story about junkies. It's not actually like that and it's a funny black comedy with some things that only those who have been there will notice and catch.

Panic in Needle Park which came out in the early 70s was about a couple who get addicted to heroin in NYC and all that comes with it. It doesn't show fun at all, but it was controversial because Dunne filmed actual junkies shooting up actual smack for the movie, althout none of the stars actually did it. He hired junkie extras.If you event seen it, check it out. Depressing as hell and far more accurate than transporting. But turn up the volume because it's very murky nd hard to hear nurse captions if you can.
