What do you think about denouncing other people to the authorities?

It is according to you is the difference between a good denunciation and malicious denunciation.

For exemple i was spanked once maybe two in my entire live, and each time i was spanked for good reason.
While on other hand my best friend got spanked by his abusive step dad almost every day.

Now spanking is prohibited by law in Poland, once i read article about one mom who spanked her son for misbehaving on street, One neighbor called the police, and this woman had by this unpleasantness, then asked the man why he called the police, said that there is nothing to corporal punishment, that the kid was spoiled brat and he would spank to if he was his son, that he just does not like his neighbor

The other thing i read about a guy who reported his rich a businessman, neighbor to US (Urząd Skarbowy - The Tax Office) government agency that collect tax, and court imposed fines, every Pole is required to fill up yearly tax declaration there, one guy reported own rich neighbor to The Tax Office, barbecue thoughts he cheat on tax because he was to rich in his opinion, the Revenue Officers need to check it, and they find that they guy not cheat, that he was genuine law abiding businessman

I wonder how many how many denunciations is only envy or malice?

I think that one should have all of the facts straight before making the denouncement. Make no report that is based solely on rumor, innuendo, or mere suspicion; and certainly make no report just to "get back at" the person being reported. Make sure that the report is fact-based, and that the evidence to support the claims is readily available.

I think, on many occasions, that people should merely mind their own business.

Obviously, if a neighbor is dealing drugs, and has "clients" coming in at all hours, the person should be reported to the police.

However, if a person merely is eccentric, and keeps to him/her self, nobody should "report" them. This is an occasion where people should just mind their own business.

Well, approximately 2 weeks ago a man reported another man (who was selling CDs outside a store) to the authorities for (allegedly) threatening him with a gun in Baton Rouge... that didn't go well...

Sometimes a report to the authorities is necessary for the protection of a child or vulnerable person, but in a great many cases it has more to do with people not minding their own business, or looking to settle a score.

In modern society, especially here in America, people tend to care too much about others' private lives, even when there are no real crimes committed, so I think that denouncing should be used very carefully and as little as possible. It is much better hen people motivated by their morality than by police threat.
